There is quite a nice article about this relatively un-reported WHS in the latest edition of Saudi Aramco World.

See here
https://www.saudiaramcoworld.com/issue/201403/last.lakes.of.the.green.sahara.htm

I find the magazine an interesting resource - and Saudi Aramco is so flush with money that they post it out in hard copy for FREE if you register (no qualifications required!).

Back issues are available on the Web site. Subjects cover, as the title states, "The World" with an emphasis on the "culture, history and geography" of "the Arab and Muslim worlds and their connections to the West".

A fair number of relevant WHS get covered one way or another. Qatar's entry in 2013, Al Zubarah was covered here
https://www.saudiaramcoworld.com/issue/201306/the.pearl.emporium.of.al.zubarah.htm
