I finally bought a smart phone (I'm a little behind when it comes to gadgets) and found a cool app (Android) that maps all the whs and you can keep track of all the whs you visited.
Pros:
* keeping track of your visited WHS and you can store the date when you visited the site (maybe a nice feature for this site too...)
* info about every whs
* with GPS you can see where the nearby WHS are (I live 12 kilometer from the nearest and have 7 within 100 kilometers, the nearest one that I haven't visited yet is only 188 km away...)
* It can plot all the whs on Google maps
* It shows the most popular sites
Cons:
* Entering your visited site is a bit of a hassle since you have to select the site, wait for the picture to load and only then you can tick it off
* Downloading data (for instance when you select "Subscription" or "Blogs" takes a very long time and totally disables the app)

It's made by a Taiwanese backpacker but looks pretty professional

Looks good. Thank you for the tip. The actual date (including the day) is a bit annoying for me, as I only kept record on which month a visited a site. The nearest WHS function is too limited(in my case there are a lot within reasonable distance and I visited them all). I like the weather info and the 5 nearby sites.

I suggest you switch off the connection if you want to update a lot of sites. This way it will not load the picture and you'll be much faster.

When I progress up to the 21st century I may have to hunt this one out, though I will miss learning new tricks on my excel spreadsheet.

A smartphone is not such a bad idea for our kind. It can work as a fully functioning navigation system and save you a lot of time and trouble.

Here's what you do:
- get google maps mobile (preinstalled for android devices)
- download a map of the city/region/country you want to visit so it will be available offline
- activate GPS during your trip (for GPS no cost is charged by any provider)
- open google maps and select your downloaded map
- it will show you exactly where you are

This helped me a lot in Israel as navigation system for the car and even to find my way within the bazaar of Old Jerusalem.
