Many countries offer materials such as booklets and/or brochures on their nations world heritage sites and sometimes tentative sites as well. Often these free materials can be found on their official tourism website. Most of the time these materials are downloadable, but sometimes they will even mail them to you.

The official tourism website of Korea (english.visitkorea.or.kr) will send you a detailed map of Korea, and a 200 page travel guide for free (updated every year). They are not exclusively about world heritage, but all 10 of Korea's WHS are featured.

I have been browsing recently and I found a free booklet on Germany's World Heritage sites that is free for mail delivery. Does anyone know any other great free resources about specific world heritage destinations that can be mailed? On the myswitzerland website there are numerous brochures available by mail, however the Unesco World Heritage brochure seems to be no longer available by mail.

When the US was developing their new tentative list, you could comment on the process of choosing sites, and upon request they would mail a fantastic booklet identifying all the new tentative sites, and potential sites for future inclusion.

I am looking for these kind of materials. Particularly for any of these countries China, Japan, Turkey, Peru, United Kindom, France, Sweden, and Mexico. Though information on other countries would be interesting as well. Anything to do with the countries world heritage sites, and/or tentative list.

There seems to be a brochure for each of Spain's "World Heritage Cities" - I counted 11 but there is a maximum of 5 brochures if they are to be posted.

I must admit that I am surprised that any country is still incurring the expense of posting brochures to people in this "Web age"!!

Free world heritage country brochures/booklets from Germany and Turkey are on their way to my house, if they are informative and useful I will post it here.

I also requested brochures from Denmark, Sweden, and Philippines which feature their world heritage sites, but are likely focused generally on sightseeing in the country.

After recieving free Korean guides and an map annually, I started to wonder if other countries likewise mailed visitor guides and/or brochures. (Particularly materials covering WHS)

It has been a pleasant suprise that quite a few countries mail these materials. For some countries it is very easy, Korea has a tourism office in Los Angeles, so the guide is sent out from there and arrives in 1-2 days (Though I noticed each postage costs around $3). Others mail it internationally! Anyway, I thought this could be a valuable resource for someone making travel plans to any particular country.

I could not find the option to have the brochures sent by post? After selecting 5 brochures I was given the option to have the brochures sent to my email for download.

Poland has a 23 page brochure available by post or download. The download simulates a paper brochure and it looks rather fine.

Here is the UK link but they only send to UK/Eire. To find out other countries/languages alter the country/language (top right) and select "Order Brochure", or its local language equivalent (bottom centre -check where it is on the UK page) to get to the ordering dialog or choose the PDF option above it to view it.

I can't get the US page actually to accept the "Order Brochure" option even though it is supposed to be available!

It is quite sad that their previous version of UNESCO world heritage site borchure is not available anymore. It is one of my favorite with load of information including map showing the inscribed area and buffer zone. But maybe you can find some info in many regional/theme brochures currently available.

I noticed the same thing for Switzerland on the myswitzerland website.

This has a selection for "Postal order" or "E-mail order". If I choose postal and select 1 brochure it asks me for my postal address (and my e-mail - but I presume it has asked for the postal address for good reason!!)

Spain Brochures - Unfortunately post is for UK only, for US download is the only option.


About the United States World Heritage Program:
- Contact April_Brooks@nps.gov and request a copy of "World Heritage in the United States of America: The U.S. Tentative List 2008". I do not know if this 48 page (very nice looking magazine size) booklet is available by mail outside the US, but it is worth a shot. The booklet is a great resource, beautiful color pictures, and maps of all US Tentative site locations, including all 10 sites of the Frank Lloyd Wright Buildings. The booklet is primarily focused on the 2008 tentative list, but also includes small pictures of all 20 US WHS as of 2008. Also included is information about other US sites that will be considered for future inclusion as TWHS.
