In the light of our ongoing discussions about the upcoming WHC and UNESCO's apparently growing penchant for threatening sites with delisting, afficionados of this Forum might like to listen to this 38 minute BBC radio progam called
"World Heritage - Curse or Blessing"
it is available (though I don't know for how long) to hear on this site
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00kgzmw/World_Heritage_Curse_or_Blessing/It is broadly sympathetic (in my view excessively so - very little "anti" material or interviews are presented!) to UNESCO but realistic about some of the weaknesses of the scheme especially to developed countries. Interestingly the WHC director is interviewed and states that if the Dresden Bridge had been a "better" bridge architecturally there wouldn't have been a problem!! It also interviews a representative from Dresden who seems accepting of its upcoming delisting.
Worth listening to if you are interested in WHS matters
