Leap Day travels

I was taking a look at folks who updated their travels on Leap Day, and realized Clyde was at Rapa Nui this year. That brought back memories for me, since Rapa Nui was a main focus of my Leap Day travels to Chile in 2020. This year I visited Aachen Cathedral, which was a spectacular place to spend Leap Day. That made me wonder -- do other World Heritage travelers arrange travels to take advantage of the extra day we get every four years?

Ah such a good idea, I feel like I am missing out by not tapping into this. pre children I always used New Years Eve to pick up WHS, now it is just early nights.

So my Leap Day traditions now just involve wearing Yellow and Blue, and despite what Andi McDowell may say visits on Leap Day DO count.

Ah yes -- I'd forgotten about Leap Day William; thanks for the reminder! New Year's Eve does seem like a memorable way to collect World Heritage Sites, closing out the year with a visit. I think I've only really been to a new site once on New Year's Eve, and that was when I was in Cape Town. I might have to try this out for some future years.

My parents were in Trang An, Vietnam, this Leap Day. Best I've managed is hiking in Argentina's Tierra del Fuego National Park before heading up the following day to Puerto Natales (for Torres del Paine), back in 2012. I'll try and remember to do something cool in 2040 when I'll no longer be tied to my kids' school holidays!
