The earthquake of today in western Colombia has surely had disastrous effects in the Coffee Cultural Landscape of Colombia WHS. The 7,4 event had its epicenter in San José del Palmar, at the department of Chocó, a municipality which just sits a few tens of kilometers east from component F of this World Heritage Site. The news coming from the towns of El Cairo
https://es-us.noticias.yahoo.com/municipio-colombia-80-destruido-fuerte-181100414.html , and El Águila, within this component F, speak of up to 80% of the buildings having collapsed and multiple victims. In the case of of El Águila, at the department of Valle del Cauca (where the local hospital and 100 houses in the urban core collapsed, according to the mayor, as he said in the broadcast from Colombia's Caracol news I've been hearing).
Due to the effects of the earthquake in the cities of the wider area, like Pereira, Armenia, Manizales and Cali, it may show that the damages will extend to other towns and all components of this WHS, especially considering the extensive presence of earthen architecture in the rural towns within this WHS.
