I came across this IUCN sponsored Web site today which could be of wider general interest/use. I can't find that we have ever referenced it previously

"The World Heritage Analyses is a digital lab (hereafter referred to as the Lab) by the IUCN World Heritage Programme to utilise the power of the web to effectively deliver data, information and knowledge on natural World Heritage sites."
It is apparently still very much "under development", "a prototype", an "alpha" version
Among the features provided to date are maps and data sheets covering, for all Natural and Mixed WHS -
Land Cover Change
Forest loss and Human footprint
Species Climate change vulnerability
Near real time Landsat 8 imagery
World Heritage boundary
Global spatial comparative analysis
World Heritage information sheet
Global surface water transition

I can't (yet??) extract value from some of these but the World Heritage Boundary and WH Information sheet features seem rather useful. The former shows exact/detailed WHS boundaries mapped on to a world map and viewable in different formats/layers. Something to enthuse "Map lovers"????

ELS - The above Web site's map of Dong Phayayen-Khao Yai Forest Complex shows that the easternmost element 004 - Ta Phraya National Park runs along the Thai-Cambodia frontier and should therefore be added to the "On National Frontier" Connection.
The "not very good" UNESCO map actually shows parts of the inscribed area crossing the frontier - but I don't think that indicates another frontier dispute! It is remarkably "careless" however given the "history" between the 2 countries on "frontier matters"!

Well this looks excellent!

We have looked at protected planet planet before, but this pulls the information together with a distinct focus on WHS.

I will have a look into this in more detail in teh next week or so, but thanks so much for flagging it up.
