Right just to start a "little" task off I thought I would start mapping the only things we don't currently have mapped, Former Tentative list sites.
I'm not sure what the use of this would be, I just quite fancy giving it a go.

I don't have as much time as I used to, but I'm going to plod through them and if anyone else is interested feel free to help out

Just curious! Are you planning to map all FTWHS or only the one that has not become part of other WHS or current TWHS?

You mean assign it to a location on our maps? I would not be in favour of that (certainly not adding them to our general maps). I find the attention to former twhs a bit outside my area of interest and would not dwell on it, to be honest.

@assif I guess I will set out to map all of them, but see what happens when it comes around to it.

@elsslots That is fair enough about not including them in our maps, an extra level of confusion and not really of any practical use. I'm going to plod on doing them (completed UK on the commute home last night) and just see where it ends up.

Out of interest we haven't got any former TWHS from Australia, (and I'm sure many others) is that right? Has everything they've ever proposed become a WHS or is on the current T list?

Yes to both. Not only Australia is missing FTWHS. Other examples are Albania, Andorra, Angola, Armenia, Austria and Azerbaijan and these are just he ones in A.

I've made a bit of a dent in these, excluding a few sites I've mapped the South American, Oceanian and European (excl. Germany, Italy and Spain) former T-List lists we have listed.

If it is of any interest here is a very rudimentary map of them.

A couple of points:
-Formacion Parantepui Venezuela, I'm struggling to see how this is anything other than Canaima National Park, or an extension to it, but there isn't much detail available (the direct search term Formacion Parantepui basically just brings back results for this website), however Canaima National Park was in scribed in 1994, when this site was added, I can't really work out what the story is with it.

-We still have Nan Mandol and Lelu listed, I'm guessing that is because Lelu hasn't been inscribed, but thought I would flag it up in case it is an oversight.

There are two sites so far that I haven't been able to turn up anything for, so if anyone is at a loose end and fancies digging into these then feel free:
Parque arqueologico de Barinas (Venezuela)
Güven - Fish and Insect Fossils (Turkey)

I'll keep plugging away but will probably slow the pace for a bit (important to get my World Cup preparations in order - and do my day job!).

What a job meltwaterfalls congratulations! It's interesting to have a global map view of these sites.
Regarding Formacion Parantepui, it leaves me speechless. No doubt a duplicate with Canaima or a desire for extension.

Do a search on "Formacion Para Tepui" and you will come up with "El Monumento natural Formaciones de Tepuyes es un espacio natural protegido desde 1991 situado en Venezuela, más concretamente en los estados de Amazonas y Bolívar.

A "Monumento Natural" seems to be different from a "Parque Nacional" - which Canaima is.
Amazonas state is situated to the WEST of Canaima - which is entirely in Bolivar State.
If you look at in Wiki - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formaciones_de_Tepuyes_Natural_Monument you will see that it is "Is a protected natural space since 1991, located in Venezuela more specifically in the states of Amazonas and Bolívar. Should not be confused with the Canaima national park that contains part of the tepuyes." and consisits of a series of Tepuis scattered around those 2 states. If you choose a few of those named on Google maps you will find some located a long way West of Canaima - E.g Cerro Yavi
Yuruani is another of interest - it is in Bolivar state but to the east of Canaima right on the border with Guyana ( or still in the middle of Venezuela if you accept Venezuela's claims on Guyana!). The Wiki entry for Yunuani specifically mentions that it is outside Canaima -
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuruan%C3%AD-tepui

So - it would have been an extension to Canaima containing more Tepuis and does still exist as a series of protected areas outwith Canaima

Parque arqueologico de Barinas (Venezuela)

What is meant is an archaeological site in the state of Barinas (not the town). There several such sites: http://www.guiaviajesvirtual.com/index_barinas.php?recharge=arqueologico
My guess, and it is only a guess, would be the most significant archaeological site in the state, namely the area of the Bumbun petroglyphs:
http://rupestreweb.tripod.com/bumbun2.html

meltwaterfalls:
Güven - Fish and Insect Fossils (Turkey)

The only place carrying this name in Turkey is this:
Güven Mahallesi, 54680 Kaynarca/Sakarya, Turkey
41.010574, 30.322240
I could find no connection to fossils though. Neither could I come up with any fossil site in Turkey with fish and insect fossils.

The location of the dismantled Yenissei Bridge was next to Krasnoyarsk:

The current location is at the Ob river.

Güven - Fish and Insect Fossils (Turkey)

This should actually be spelt "Güvem".
This is the best reference source I have found - it concerns the creation of a Geopark in the area (some other articles said that it had been set up but this doesn't seem to be the case. This article talks of it being ready for 2010 but I don't think it was or even "is"!). This is the Turkish article
http://www.jeoparkankara.com/12-proje
Some quotes from the Auto translation to English -
"Geotourism is all activities carried out in order to see and learn about rare geologic formations in nature. It is exciting for anyone to watch the petrified state of a large forest, to touch the fishbone of a fish 15 million years ago, or to examine the frog in the swamp 10 million years ago and the wings of the beetle there."
"Fossil fish, leaf and insect fossils"
Here is a map - http://www.jeoparkankara.com/proje/jeositler
It isn't quite clear to me what might be the "best" location as choice for coordinates -the Village of Güvem or in the countryside beyond??
Here are those for the village -40.591634, 32.659623
On Google Maps it will be seen that the entire area to the West is coloured green as a "park area"
This is a more detailed artice with both the earlier and also other maps - https://slideheaven.com/queue/geological-background-and-three-vulnerable-geosites-of- the-kzlcahamamamldere-geo.html

Funny - we were in "Barinas" as long ago as 1990 - Venezuela was a very different (and better for most) place then .
But we didn't see any Archaeological sites - it is the gateway to climb from the flat Llanos up into the Andes and Merida. Being in this transition zone seems ot have been significant archaeologically)
I too was going to suggest Bumbum - but the remains are all very spread out. This article has a map which could help choose a particular set of coordinates - or else the town of Bumbum - 8.277279, -70.769194
http://research.amnh.org/anthropology/research/mca/projects/barinas
And this is an ICOMOS article which references Bunbum (also "Bumbun") among others but without a map - https://www.icomos.org/studies/rockart-latinamerica/zone2-2.pdf
Incidentally - there doesn't ever seem to have been a specific "Archaeological Park" created as yet

I tackled the US and Canadian former TWHS tonight, and sent them your way via e-mail. The map you pulled together so far looks great!
