The determined and often fierce campaigns for Independence have only become more in the forefront of public discourse. Whether it happens or not in the years to come is anyone's guess. It could be decades, if ever. I am not providing my opinion regardless. However, its interesting to imagine what result a split would have on cultural and natural heritage? The formation of an independent state requires a certain amount of nationalistic sentiment. What would a Scottish or Catalonian tentative list look like? Would a split leave heritage on the back-burner, ultimately leading to less preservation and/or worse management? Or the opposite, less bureaucrat, more stream-lined? |
