Wishing you all happy and safe travels in the New Year, from a rather foggy London.

It looks like a quiet travel year ahead for me, so I look forward to plenty of vicarious travel through this website.

Best wishes to all from sunny Palau, where it has been 2017 already for 7 hours.

My travel plans for this year include: Palau/South Korea, Egypt and Kazakhstan/Kyrgyzstan.

Happy New Year from the U.S.! 2016 was a good travel year for me, as I finished visits to all seven continents (via an Antarctic cruise) and all 50 states in the U.S. I also got to see some incredible World Heritage Sites, like Iguazu Falls, the Everglades, and Mesa Verde National Park. No idea what 2017 holds, though I'll probably try to add more North American World Heritage Sites. Hope you all have a great year of travel and adventure!

Happy New Year from Hamburg.

My travel plans for 2017 are still in flux and will depend on flight prices:
* I planned on going to Malta/Sicily, but looking into Thessalonik to Bucharest now instead.
* I want to finish Poland (Malbork, Bison Forest).
* I might go twice to Spain (Valencia and Madrid) and would try to cover Salamanca and Avila and Rockart and Elche with the trips.
* My yearly trip to Italy should take me to Padova, Bergama and Crespi d'Adda.
* Finally, my big trip will probably take me to South America again. Wanna see Macchu Picchu. The other consideration was going to Tanzania/Kenya/Ethopia. But security wise this seems difficult.

2016 was quite a productive year in terms of travels and WHS for me. Apart from the unforgettable pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela from France, I visited different parts of Spain, UK, Cyprus, Denmark, Sweden, Russia, Macedonia, Kosovo, the 3 Baltic States while meeting up with other fellow WH travellers as well as a revisit to India and the Maldives.

Hopefully, 2017 will get me to more non-European WHS, especially in Asia.

Wish you all a very happy new year.
2016 is the year when we started our UNESCO WHS journey. Very small steps but we hope to come into your league in the next five years or so!
11 WHS
6 TS
Cheers!

11 WHS

Every journey has to start somewhere ;)

I would feel confident, though, that you have seen a few sites before. If you update your profile, you can use Els checklist to determine how many you actually have seen. ;) And as reward you will have your own map.

It proves to be getting harder and harder for me to reach my target of 30 - 35 new WHS each year:
2010: 36
2011: 63 (including 47 on RTW trip)
2012: 43
2013: 36
2014: 38
2015: 34
2016: 32

These numbers all include the new WHS that were announced that year at the WHC and that I had already visited before.

Partly you are to blame yourself by skipping on the easy stuff for the time being. There are still a few easy pickings a short to mid term flight from your home: Golden Ring Moscow, Poland, Czech Republic, ... Meanwhile you get lost in Africa or Palau.

Thank you. I tried updating the profile however I do not see an option to add sites I have seen and stuff like that.
I only see the following when I choose to Edit Profile -

Could you help me understand how I can add details like sites visited etc.?

Czech Republic

I may do a short dash into the Czech Republic this year to brush up my total - looking at 6 WHS in 4 days.

But in general, my strategy at the moment is to aim for the remote ones (as long as they can be combined with a few easier ones).
