Jonathanfr brought up a good point in another thread, which might be worth a separate topic for conversation:

jonathanfr:
Tired scaffolding that disfigure your souvenir photo when you visit a heritage site? I propose to create a connection that recency sites wholesale restoration, update regularly. So you can postpone your visit at a later date, when it's less ugly.

Example :
http://peccadille.net/2015/09/08/azay-le-rideau-le-chantier-du-siecle-a-visiter/
http://www.lanouvellerepublique.fr/Indre-et-Loire/Communes/Azay-le-Rideau/n/Contenus/ Articles/2015/04/18/Ateliers-au-chateau-pendant-les-travaux-2298744

Would it be worth it to have a topic or even a page on the website that folks can contribute to regarding WHS that are currently partially covered by scaffolding during restoration work? Off the top of my head, I can think of a couple sites that have scaffolding:

Monticello and the University of Virginia: The Rotunda at the University of Virginia is currently covered by scaffolding while it is being restored; this restoration should be completed between April and July 2016

Novodevichy Convent: A well-documented fire broke out during restoration of the convent's bell tower in 2015. Because of the fire, repairs are now expected to be completed in 2019.

Venice and its Lagoon: St. Mark's Basilica was partially covered by scaffolding when I visited in 2013, and according to recent visitors on TripAdvisor, there is still scaffolding up as of this week. I couldn't find any articles stating when the restoration should be complete

To have a connection for this matter, I don't think so as connection should be something that permanant not temporary, and after restoration is done we have to delete it from connection again, except we want a connection "WHS that once had been restored or repaired"!! In my opinion the best information is official website for each WHS or recent report from other popular websites or forum e.g. tripadvisor or lonelyplanet. But I welcome to have topic or discussion on this issue to update WHS status.

The interior of the nave at Tournai Cathedral is undergoing restoration and is covered in scaffolding, until at least 2017.

Here's what I stumbled upon this year.

The Palazzo Reale in Naples is completely covered for quite some time now.

Al Zubarah fort is partially covered

Back in 2014 the following German WHS were shrouded in scaffolding - can anyone provide an update?
a. The Wartburg
b. Margravial Opera (interior)
c. Bergpark - the Hercules
d. Lorsch

In Germany there are a fair few
Bayreuth
Wilhelmshöhe (very underwhelming to visit in winter whilst it is under restoration)
Museum Insel (Pergamon museum)
Hildesheim? Not sure if it is still though.

UK
Upcoming will be restoration of the Palace of Westminster. Will last for quite some time so if you want a visit inside get here soon.
Kew Gardens the Palm House is closed for extensive restoration

Ah Jinx!
The works at Wartburg seem to have finished, or were hidden in fog, but we didn't see any a few weeks ago.

Also forgot to add:
Lutherstadt Wittenberg: extensive restoration at the Schloss.

And of course there is the Parthenon and Propylaea in the Acropolis!!! Huge crane, much scaffolding and large numbers of stone blocks awaiting restoration. Might as well give up trying to avoid them in any photos and instead make a virtue/ historical record of them!
We were there the other month and it was interesting to read the history of previous inadequate restoration techniques. A nasty little image kept appearing in my mind of some tourist in the year 2065 reading notices about all the mistakes made in the "inadequate" reconstruction c2015!!

The monastery of Daphni a few kms away is also "under restoration" and encased in scaffolding. Seee this with photos from Sep 2015 http://helenmilesmosaics.org/mosaic-sites/byzantine-mosaics-of-daphni-monastery/

The Chora church in Istanbul is also undergoing restoration and, as we discovered last October, only the Narthices are open (but still at full ticket price!!)

Germany:
In Hildesheim the restoration is complete, the cathedral was reopened in August 2014.
Lorch also seems to be completetd, in December 2015, there were only minor works on the ruin of the church, the scaffolding of the Torhalle has been removed, there was only a small fence because of ongoing excavations.

Regensburg: the Stone Bridge is under restoration until 2017

From my visit to Northern France in 2014:
Chartres: parts of the interior are under scaffolding
Reims Cathedral: parts of the western facade under scaffolding
Vauban: The tower in Camaret-sur-Mer is closed for renovation.

Els, a way to compile results on a dedicated page without making a connection?

For me it is the easiest to make it a separate Connection.
We will then have to update it regularly.

Kasubi Tombs: this is how it looks now https://www.flickr.com/photos/32282344@N08/24027723299/in/dateposted-public/ (end of 2016 there should be a thatched roof again)

There's also a nice piece with great photos on the website of our contributor Michael Turtle: http://www.timetravelturtle.com/2012/09/daphni-monastery-athens-greece-unesco/

Yes - it is going to have to be updated however/wherever it was put.
Could I suggest that a "date of notification" is always supplied on the entry to provide at least an indication in future that it might be out of date. Also that, wherever possible, some information/link about the restoration dates, should be provided

London isn't going to be the best place to visit for WHS in the next few years, after Westminster and Kew mentioned above I forgot about the restoration of the Painted Hall in Greenwich due for 2016-2019
