And of course there is the
Parthenon and Propylaea in the Acropolis!!! Huge crane, much scaffolding and large numbers of stone blocks awaiting restoration. Might as well give up trying to avoid them in any photos and instead make a virtue/ historical record of them!
We were there the other month and it was interesting to read the history of previous inadequate restoration techniques. A nasty little image kept appearing in my mind of some tourist in the year 2065 reading notices about all the mistakes made in the "inadequate" reconstruction c2015!!
The
monastery of Daphni a few kms away is also "under restoration" and encased in scaffolding. Seee this with photos from Sep 2015

Chora church in Istanbul is also undergoing restoration and, as we discovered last October, only the Narthices are open (but still at full ticket price!!)
