What is a more fulfilling method of traveling: a quest to visit every World Heritage Site or the enjoyment of whatever travels an individual takes that are not bound to a travel goal?

I don't think there's a definite answer to your question. I'd argue that both can be fulfilling in their own way. It's the experience of travelling itself that is fulfilling, whatever the reason (if you remain open to new experiences and remain vigilant and attentive to detail. Some of my travels were solo, though through my photos and through describing my experience to friends and relatives I shared what was quite an individual fulfillment. Other travels I travelled with my better half and even though my main quest wasn't always to visit WHS, I would consider those travels to be more than fulfilling. Sometimes it's the journey that teaches you a lot about your destination, so as long as your traveling is not a boring routine (business, work, etc.) it's always worthwhile.
