As it looks like we are going to have another batch of Carpathian wooden churches added to the list this year (Wooden Tserkvas) I was just wondering if anyone out there has any information in general about the differences and specifics of the various groups of Wooden Churches on the list.

A friend of Mrs Meltwaterfalls has the opportunity to investigate them a little further and I was just wondering if anyone had some good knowledge/ resources that we can start from.

I would also be fairly interested as small Carpathian wooden ecclesiastical buildings would now be as well represented on the list as ancient Egypt, so it would be good to see what was so special about them.

they are considered to represent the best examples of horizontal squared log construction with sophisticated corner joints in the region (AB ev)

according to the comparative analysis, it's mainly the typology that's different

that the wooden churches are so abundant in that region comes from the fact that it is very forested
in another region (like NL, Denmark), the use of brick is common
we have many examples of brick architecture too, so...
