It is interesting to see the connection between tourism and world heritage.
From the 25 least visited countries in the world

only 10 have world heritage sites. From these 10, 7 only have a signle nomination (Dominica, Chad, CAR, North Korea, Marshalls, Kiribati, Solomons) and three have more (Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and Mauritania).

I am also surprised and intrigued at the correlation. I wonder if tourism in the 15 nations without World Heritage Sites on this list would rise if the respective state parties would decide to pursue World Heritage Nominations
