Holland is going to be the first country (apparently) to have a National World Heritage Infocenter. It will open spring 2013. Looking forward to it!

I think I would be a complete sucker for this. Especially if there was an associated gift shop. It is actually in the Amsterdam WHS boundaries as well. I know where I will be heading on my next visit.

Without a warning, the infocenter is open. Darn, just the day before I leave the country... Wondering how it will be! Els, are you planning on going anytime soon?

No, I have no plans to visit Amsterdam in the coming weeks/months. I just sent my passport of to the Consulate of Suriname for the visa - decided against going there in person and wait around. Too hot and too many tourists now in Amsterdam.

You can sign up for lectures (including lunch), the official opening and guided tours here (I guess everything will be in Dutch).
The mayor and minister of Culture will be attending too. And I signed up myself. Anybody else going?

Also, with the current Dutch issue of National Geographic magazine comes a special issue about Dutch WHS.
There's also a photo contest (price: a trip to Curacao): at all the Dutch WHS there's a NG frame of a few meters high and you have to send in a picture of the WHS through the frame. Hmmm wouldn't it be nice to visit Willemstad :-)
