Let's keep our proposal thread free of brainstorming new sites and gaps.

Some components were proposed.

- Hebrides Islands (UK) *Unspecified boundaries, the whole area + Isle of Skye?
Scoping here an interesting question.

- Scottish Castles (serial) (UK) *Partially identified components (Eilean Donan)

- Historic Football Fields and Stadiums (UK) *No identified components yet
Proposal was made.

- Disneyland (USA) *authenticity issues raised

- Bryce Canyon National Park (USA)
- Zion Canyon National Park (USA)
Single out the best NP or combine with multiple NPs of the larger area?

- Bell Laboratories (USA)
- Casinos of Las Vegas (USA) *authenticity issues raised
- Ivy League Universities (USA) *No identified components yet

Other US topics:
- Fast Food Industrry (USA)

For American technological advances how about Arecibo Observatory?

I find the Goldstone Deep Space Communications Complex at least equally as impressive, though they have different functions. The US has several sites in this technological advance category, Lowell Observatory in Arizona, JPL historic sites in Pasadena, and the Hale Telescope.

This conversation about Historic Telescopes/Satellites belongs in this "whiteboard".

Trying to work up a couple of these proposals, I'm just rather pressed for time.

Where would be the best place to post ones that I think are interesting proposal, but I wouldn't probably think of as being top 50 missing?

I suggested Dallas Dhu Distillery as it has been considered in the past for inscription on the tentative list without success.

But other components could be added: Aberlour Distillery, Glenfiddich Distillery

Maybe we should stick to the largest historical optical telescopes remaining? These would be Hooker and Hale telescopes.

FredericM:
Kennedy Space Center and Houston Mission Control Center (or other more well preserved component) as a transnational site about space exploration with Kazakhstan's Baikonur Cosmodrome.

Still missing proposals here.

My understanding was always that McDonalds war failry late in the game? But roughly these types of places would be nice to add.

jonathanfr:
I suggested Dallas Dhu Distillery as it has been considered in the past for inscription on the tentative list without success.

Dallas Dhu is part of the Single Malt Trail. Several seem worthy:
* Strathisla distillery - Oldest continuously operated distillery in the highlands
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strathisla_distillery
* Cardhu - 1824 founded. "The distillery was established in 1824 by John Cumming, who had previously been a whisky smuggler." But major parts

Others:
* Islay - Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Bowmore
* Dalwhinnie

USA
Brainstorming USA, we should maybe try to find one per state? Our American community members should have a better feeling for how well the states are covered.

UK
For the UK, I think there are a few simple places that may warrant discussion:
Windsor Castle
Cliffs of Dover.

In addition, we don't have much modern architecture in the UK. Also, several of the islands (Wight, Man, Scilly, Jersey / Guernsey) may warrant a look.

Ireland
For Ireland, Cliffs of Moher are on everyone's itinerary.

Europe
Modern architecture is not listed for every country. Some sites to consider:
* Paris: Centre Pompidou, La Defense, La Villette
* Spain: Valencia Ciudad de la Sciencia
...

Brainstorming USA, we should maybe try to find one per state?

For brainstorming purposes that may be all right, but in actuality I would be afraid that would lead to weaker nominations being put forward, as has happened with some countries in Europe. I'd have to give hard thought to whether there are any more potential sites missing in the mid-Atlantic.

As for fast food restaurants, White Castle is believed to be the earliest fast food chain inthe United States; it's almost 100 years old. White Castle has a reputation for being late night stoner cuisine. For influence on the world, both McDonalds and KFC have become pretty ubiquitous. I still wonder whether fast food culture is too young to make an accurate assessment of its place in world history.

The Cliffs of Moher were beautiful to see, but I don't know that they would make it as a natural site on their own. I'm rather partial to the Royal Sites of Ireland, though.

I have been here and admittedly its pretty interesting. The design stands out and its authenticity is strong. It is not on the National Register of Historic Places, but not a National Historic Landmark (which is higher protection/designation).

A little more ideas for discussion:
* Scandinavian lake landscape could warrant an inscription (SE, FI)
* Same goes for the mountains between Sweden and Norway.
* Finland has only one natural site which also seems wrong.
* The Baltics only have one Natural site. Estonian islands are nice.
* Ukraine is also really empty re WHS.

Based on size this might seem appropriate, but each state offers vastly different potential world heritage sites. Some states really have no potential sites.

For example, California has the most National Parks with nine; Alaska has eight National Parks. Utah has five; Colorado has four. Naturally, these areas would have more potential for natural sites.
