As one very alert person already has noticed, I've opened up voting!

Please add any remarks or discussions to this thread.

P.S.: that person has only 3 sites in common with my top 20!

I just voted! I tried to be as objective as possible. I had only been to 5/20 of my selections, so it also entailed some research and considering some of the comments by other more experienced members.

In choosing 20 sites, I considered how iconic. outstanding, and what the site would add to the list. I also considered if the values of the property were not already represented on the list.

My assumption is that I had far more than 3 sites in common with you (Els) for our Top 20, no? I am excited to see the results.

I am purposefully not revealing any specific sites I voted for, to have no effect on current voting.

For the final list of 119 sites, there are technically 12 sites from the United States, 9 sites from India, 7 sites from France, and 6 sites from Russia. I wonder if this offers too great a temptation for "national-pride" voting? Hopefully, this does not occur.

You guys didn't want to watch any live updates of the score, but I can and am enjoying it!

We now have had 12 people voting, only 4 of them regulars of the forum.
They've voted for 89 different sites.
And a clear number one is already in the making....

And winterkjm: we have 8 in common!

Wow, only 8! You were definitely right about there not being obvious consensus about 20 sites. So far, I am encouraged by how the voting is going, particularly on the 1st day!

I am too. Also happy about the number of non-Forum members voting.

As you'll have noticed, I already sent out the e-mail too, so everybody will know now (besides the 17 who had invalid email adressess....)

It was tough to choose, but I voted. Most difficult was trying to avoid bias towards places that I have already been to, but I still had 9 of twenty in that situation.

I am more inclusive, and less restrictive, by nature, than what I have seen in comments by this site's regulars, so I would, in fact, be happy if all the choices eventually get inscribed. ;-)

Cheers, from a forum lurker,

Mike

I voted too but it was really tough for me to choose. First of all I check all the sites out on the internet and I really liked more than a couple of them which made the selecting phase even more difficult. In the end I managed to choose 20 and I can say I'm happy with the variety of sites I chose. Still there are some beautiful sites I left out as I considered them to be of outstanding national value.

PS: I'm really curious now; how many of the sites I selected are one you selected, Els?
