Short description of site (also include multiple locations if applicable): A monastery located in Tibet, it is the traditional home of the Panchen Lamas, the second highest ranking Lama after the Dalai Lama. it is also the site of the tomb of the first Dalai Lama. this gives the place spiritual importance. architecturally it is an important piece of Tibetan architecture, and still retains most of its original decoration.
Criteria (cultural, natural, mixed): III, VI
Outstanding universal value / comparative analysis: Comparable to two sites on the WHS list: Kathmandu Valley, and Lhasa. it has its own merit, and architecturally and spiritually is very important. also comparable to other Tibetan monasteries on not on the list. however alot of these Tibetan monasteries were at least partly destroyed during the cultural revolution, and this monastery survived relatively intact. It also rises above other Tibetan Monasteries as being the historical home of the second most important figures in Tibetan Buddhism.

I like this proposal, however we already have beautiful Jokhang Monastery (as a part of Potala) on the WHS list as the best example of Tibetan monastery as well as tibetan urban landscape design, so I think it is not top 50 missing.

On the current list of WHS, we already had Tibetan, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Laotian, Nepalese, Indian, Mongolian, Sri Lankan buddhist monasteries or temples represented, so I think it is quite enough for those styles, I want to see other buddhist styles such as Bhutanese, Burmese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Cambodian which are not represented to be proposed as top 50 missing.
