Full name of site: Palaces of Yalta Country: Ukraine Short description of site (also include multiple locations if applicable): during the 19th century, Yalta was a popular retreat for the Russian aristocracy. this led to a number of palaces, in widely varying and eclectic styles being built in Yalta and the surrounding area. Later on, one of the Palaces was used for the important Yalta conference of 1945. The palaces of Yalta provide an architectural testament to an significant age in the history of Russia and the world, were the upper class built large residences for themselves.
