I like this new connection, and am thinking of including both the 'real' unpopulated ones and the ones where only scientists/park rangers can stay overnight.

So far I plan to reject:
- Lord Howe Island (350 permanent residents)

You mean, in general?

There will be very few ENTIRE sites which are uninhabited as most have scientists etc for at least some of the time
Henderson Island gets occasional visits from Pitcairn Islanders and some scientists but for all practical purposes is uninhabited I believe.
The NZ Sub-Antarctic islands are probably (?) uninhabited but Macquarie is not
You could look much closer to home eg Skellig Michael is, I think, uninhabited but receives a fair number of tourists!

There would be more if you allowed 1 or more (but not all) islands from within the inscribed islands to be uninhabited.
Inaccessible Island is uninhabited but Gough Island has a S African weather station (have been to both).
But this would cause too many problems since many island groups will have at least 1 or 2 which are uninhabited - eg Galapagos for instance has quite a large permanent population on at least 2 of its islands so shouldn't really be included

St Kilda only has wardens and a small military base (Still there I think??)

Wrangel Island? Who knows?? It seems unlikely that Russia would have no military etc and the UNESCO documentation talks of "approx 27 full and part time staff".

I meant which ones were on the list of uninhabited islands.

Skellig Michael is uninhabited since the lighthouse became automated, the tourists can only get there in the summer season so from September to May it would only be the odd intrepid/ lost fisherman who would land on the island.

I think It would be best to stick to Islands that are uninhabited, and are sites in themselves or else it could get a little messy. As such I think the Galapogos should be left off of this particular list.

I agree with Meltwaterfalls that partially inhabited sites should be excluded. Maybe it's better to change the name to uninhabited rather unpopulated islands in order to exclude islands often frequented by visitors or with no permanent population.

There are still slight inconsistencies regarding this Connection
a. Regarding which islands have a note about "non permanent" inhabitants. If Cocos, Gough and Macquarie do then so should Wrangel.
b. If Islands are being included which have NON-permanent inhabitants on them then the following should be considered (with a note about the non-permanent inhabitants!)
i. Aldabra. It just has a research station whose staff Wiki lists as "Research Officer, Island Manager and their rangers and staff. There is no other permanent population". I have been there and met some of them and a previous Manager - all are on short term contracts.
ii. St Kilda. I quote from its Management Plan "Since the evacuation in 1930, St Kilda has had no permanent inhabitants – although since 1957 Hirta has had a temporary and/or seasonal population of .... civilian staff at the MoD base, of Trust and Scottish National Heritgae staff and of scientific researchers." Hirta is the bigger of the 2 islands. The "MoD base" is a radar tracking station
