This topic is meant as an umbrella for thoughts on how we manage and administer the Connections.
Please only comment here if you are a frequent contributor or user of the Connections. And stay on topic.

As a starter, I have 2 subjects to introduce:
1. There is a possibility for 1 or 2 persons to become a "Connection Editor". This means you can add and edit connections directly to our database. It is not meant to replace the Forum, but it would be helpful to keep things going when I am travelling. Also, there is a backlog of Connections without a description. Let me know here or via els@worldheritagesite.org if you are interested.
2. We are upgrading the usability of the individual pages (like has been done with the Profile page). When the Connections Index Page and the individual Connections Pages are up, we should have a list of user requirements ready. One request has already been sent to me (bringing back the list of number of connections per site, so we can sort and see which WHS can have some more). Other requests can be added below in this topic.

I see you have had no "Volunteers" for this role despite the passage of almost a week!!!!
As a frequent supplier of suggestions for new Connections (and additions to existing ones) i feel a bit guilty not "applying" for it. Could I suggest that you at least reduce the work involved for you in setting up new entries by "Requiring" suggestions to be appropriately and fully "populated" thus relieving you of a lot of the work. In my own experience setting them out as they will appear is itself a good exercise to ensure that they hold water.

If the work can be reduced to a "check" and a "copy/paste" it might even be possible later to semi automate it via a format display and a "holding" status before it is actually added?

One person has applied; he is the guinea pig. But he will not be able to add on a daily basis. That's almost like a job in itself, I understand, I am living it! Although I must say that what we experience with the geo editors and photo editors whom we introduced earlier, having this authorization also works as a catalyst. They have a free evening and just start doing stuff!

Yes that would indeed be very helpful. I will post a few examples below of good practice.

Generally we should go there in the future I think. Like having a function "Propose a connection" where one adds the details, and when we agree, I just click and "Accept". Like what we have now with the reviews.

Example of how to suggest additions to existing connections; it clearly shows the connection name, the whs name and a rationale is given (may include links).

Jurre:
Connection: Built or owned by Dutch

Kraków – The Church of St. Anne was designed by Dutch-born Polish architect and engineer Tylman van Gameren. (Wikipedia)

Connection: Catacombs

Kraków – Church of St. Casimir the Prince: "The catacombs in the crypt under the Church are among some of the most secret places in the city. Unique climatic conditions found in the basement caused the bodies of the dead to undergo a process of natural mummification whereby they remain in an excellent state of preservation." (Wikipedia)

And an example for a fully new connection; it shows the category, the title of the new connection, the definition of the new connection, and a first set of connected sites with rationales.

Jurre:
Taking a short leave from Kraków to propose a new connection, in the Human Activity category.

Connection: Egalitarianism

Definition: Egalitarianism is a school of thought within political philosophy that builds on the concept of social equality, prioritizing it for all people. (Wikipedia)

The connection groups WHS where a reference is made to an egalitarian society or system in the OUV, documents (AB Ev, Nomination text) or official websites.

Bali Subak system – "The five landscapes within Bali are an exceptional testimony to the subak system, a democratic and egalitarian system focused on water temples and the control of irrigation that has shaped the landscape over the past thousand years." (OUV)

Çatalhöyük – "The comparable sizes of the dwellings throughout the city illustrate an early type of urban layout based on community and egalitarian ideals." (OUV)
