- The millennium park of Budapest (International Exhibitions) was claimed to be outside of the WHS, but I think it is included (via the extension of 2002, it is mentioned in the ICOMOS document)
- Midsummer Night's Dream (Famous Love Stories) is located in Athens, but can it really be linked to the Acropolis? We discussed this earlier regarding the Opera of the same name, and the conclusion there seems to be that we could allow it. (seems that I have forgotten to add it to the Opera-connection, or did we decide to remove it anyway?)

The millenium park is excluded. Check it on the "Clarifications of property boundaries" document of the 2008 session. In this area only the Heroes' Square with the Millenium Monument, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Palace of Art.

Good find, David. You're right.

But what about the Budapest Metro and the Millennium Monument? They date from 1896, the year of the International Exhibition in Hungary. I cannot find if they are directly linked, but 1896 obviously was a year of major celebrations.

We decided to remove "Midsummer Night's Dream" as the location and person were so vague - Who exactly is/was "Duke Theseus of Athens"? Is/was he meant to be the same "Theseus" as the mythical founder of Athens or just any mythical Theseus? The "Palace" could really be anywhere as the Acropolis isn't mentioned .

I note that the connection for International Exhibitions is "Connected to" rather than "Took place in".

Heroes Sq seems to have definitely been built for the Exhibition .
E.g from http://www.travelswithfriends.com/Sights_Budapest_Pest.htm
"Heroes Square- This large square was built for the 1896 exhibition and is the gateway into the beautiful city park."
So the Connection still applies I guess - though like you I had gathered from earlier documentation that the park itself HAD been included, the new document clarifying boundaries is quite clear re the Core area
(Are we adopting the view generally by the way that "buffer zones" are NOT part of the "inscribed" site??)

Yes, we should.
