I have long thought of establishing a new "Connection" for
WHS which are also members of the "Global Geoparks Network"("A geopark is a geological heritages (sic) scenic spot of special geoscientific significance, rare natural attribute and aesthetically ornamental value and with given scale and distribution scope, which integrates other natural scenes and sights and that of cultural interest into a unique natural area. It is not only a site for travel and sightseeing, vacationing and health recuperation as well as cultural recreation at a relatively high scientific level, but also a key protected area of geological heritages and base for geoscientific research and popularization." - So now you know!!)

One problem with the proposed Connection is that the only ones I can find are ALL in China!!! This is because most countries (see UK for instance) seem to use the Geoparks concept as an alternative to WHS (and the general impression is of less "significant" geological sites than normally get made WHS. But these are the WHS which, as far as I can see are the only ones also on the Global Geoparks Network
