As always the issue will be to decide whether today's site is the same as yesterday's capital. For instance Roskilde was capital of Denmark but ONLY the cathedral is inscribed. Could count this IF the Connection was "~Located in a Former Capital". This phrase mirrors the one we use for current capitals

Allright, I've implemented this Connection and thrown some extra Asian sites in (Nara, Yin etc)

Should Kumasi be included? As I understand it all the sites for "Asante Traditional Buildings" are N/NE of the city of Kumasi itself let alone in what could be considered the "Old Centre"? Paul might have been there - Ghana is a West African state I haven't yet visited, only "planned" to do so! The list of sites is given as "Abetifi, Abirim, Akokoanbong, Asawase, Asenmaso, Bogyease, Darkwa Jachie, (A) dwenase, Kentenkrono, Patakro (2), Obomeng, Saaman."

The fact that none appeared to be within Kumasi was a significant "planning factor" requiring transport to get to them from the city.

I have been to Kumasi - but that was in the days before I caught els' compulsive obsessive disorder and I wasn't really into collecting. I have been to an Ashanti museum/palace which was within (long) walking distance from the centre. I will check this evening, especially since I have not added this to my personal list!

I think non of the inscribed locations can be considered as being in Kumasi.

By the way Solivagant Ghana is my probably my favourite place in West Africa - especially if you come from the North; out of the sahel and in to the tropics. You can (could) sleep in most of the smaller forts on the coast and these are great places. Particularly Fort Appolonia in Beyin (it visitors' register was a school exercise book which had only been half filled since 1968). The caretaker lets you have the key and you have a private castle! Also Fort Hollandia in Princesstown is another good place. Transport in relatively easy compared with the French parts of west Africa.

Due to the large number of new connections to 'Former Capitals' I receive each day, I was wondering if we should limit the connection a bit. What do you think about only including the WHS that already existed during the period the city was a Capital?

One that I have my doubts about for example: Utrecht (Bisdom/Sticht Utrecht 1024 - 1528) holds the Rietveldhuis (1920s).

Yes - seems reasonable. If any doubts or unclear mention a feature or 2 in the text!
