Interesting to hear (in your "Country pages" post) that UNESCO (possibly/probably?) wouldn't allow you to use Google Maps because their maps show pictures from the UNESCO Web site - the other week you also mentioned that UNESCO don't like you quoting directly from them.

Do you get much feedback (positive or negative) from UNESCO?? I know that they stopped you showing their logo which is perhaps understandable (but from showing photos of the logo at WHS sites?) - but beyond that? You would think that they would like to know that people are interested in World Heritage sites and would give positive support but I get the feeling that maybe they only want to deal with the "big boys" and "big money" eg their latest foray with Expedia. Dealing with the ordinary people of this world is a bit beneath them perhaps!!

Re the Google maps - surely if you are allowed to use Google as a link on your site then the features which come with them must be available too?

I've been contacted by them twice I think.

The first time was a rather intimidating phone call ("This is Unesco from Paris"), in which they stated (politely but firmly) that I had to clear the site of their logo and content from their website (their introduction texts). The second time was an e-mail, kind of a follow-up on the phone call to point out where I hadn't removed enough.

Both occurred some years ago. They are worried the most about the use of their logo I think.
They are also afraid of any errors, and that my site would look too much like an official site.
