Upstream Process

I've finished the inventory of TWHS that are or have been taking part in the WHC/AB's Upstream Process: https://www.worldheritagesite.org/tentative/upstream#

Process wise it all seems a bit messy (especially the endings), but maybe we should look at it from the view that support is provided where needed and that it can come in many shapes and forms.

And this is the list of WHS that made it after being part of the Upstream Process: https://www.worldheritagesite.org/connection/Upstream+process (we had this connection already).

And Bosnia, Panama and the DPRK have proven that you can still produce an Incomplete Dossier after having been part of the Upstream Process.

Any specific reason why you have left out the Coral Stone Mosques of the Maldives from the 37 (after all the "work" I did on establishing the history of that T List site......😉)

Have you looked at Annexes I and II of this document??
They list all "Upstream Process Requests" received in 2020 and up to 31 Mar 2021. I note that 7 of them (6 + 1) are not related to a specific T List site but are at "Country Level" for T List "Revision" or "Development". The ones which are "site specific" relate to help in preparing a "Nomination" include sites not included in your list. Is that because you "know" from elsewhere that they were not pursued.... or should they be "recognised"??
Eg
Belarus - Kalozha Church of Sts. Boris and Gleb in Grodno
China - Beijing Central Axis

I note there is also a "problem" in that some "Upstream requests" relate to sites which are not yet on the T List (Kazan was in that Category when the request was made but was subsequently added).
E.g
Serbia - "Archeological site Belo brdo in Vinča".
Belgium - "Public zoological gardens in the 19th century - a new typology in a rapidly changing world"
I guess we just ignore these???

Yes

This has been common across all years since 2010, I've browsed through all the Upstream documents 2010-2023.

Isn't this the same as Vestfold Ship Burials?

You would think so, but the document says "Not on TL" - maybe they take a wider, more exploratory approach to determine which are the "best" ship burial sites?

ICOMOS report on this Rawda or spelling Rawdha in Qatar. Interesting if the nomination idea focus on Northern Qatar, it may include Al Zubarah

I can imagine that it might end being just a slight reworking focusing on the ships and throwing overboard the quernstone quarries, which would be a great pity since those in Hyllestad are maybe even more enjoyable than the burial mounds.
