This might be a semi-serious update, but a first-hand one: I mailed the cultural sector of Leuven's administration to prompt them to revamp the candidature of Leuven as a university city, currently languishing at the bottom of the tentative list. I wrote it in my honest but rickety Dutch (like 2 hours for a handful of lines), and happily got a response: yes, they will discuss the matter as part of the activities related to the election as European capital of culture in 2030. That's it! :-D I think that the celebrations of the 600th plus this nomination could propel such an endeavour. I suggested to also include Louvain la neuve (but forgot what there might be left in Congo of the old Lovanium branch).
