More from Italy:

Vatican City (neat!)
Church and Dominican Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie
Isole Eolie (c) Protected Planet resized
Mount Etna (c) Protected Planet
Historic Centre of Siena
City of Verona
Villa Adriana (Tivoli)
Villa d'Este
Urbino

Catoplayer submitted:
Roman Walls of Lugo (a cute ring)
Yuso and Suso Monasteries
Ubeda and Baeza (very small core zones, I had to move the markers)
La Lonja de la Seda

JakobF finished the Erzgebirge. This is probably the most difficult hand-made one to be entered so far. Also has underground components.

And I went on with Italy:
Pompei
Portovenere, Cinque Terre, and the Islands
Rome (the UNESCO map section has this one down to 3 locations nowadays - the earlier named components of the Holy See properties in Rome itself have gone as separate components, but I have left them in as points of interest)

JakobF did:
The Palaces of King Ludwig II
Kalwaria Zebrzydowska
Pilgrimage Church of Wies

And I did a few here and there:
Ohrid (c) Protected Planet
Barberton Makhonjwa Mountains (c) Protected Planet
Sewell Mining Town
Choirokoitia

Will continue with South Africa

South Africa looked daunting, but was not too bad:

Robben Island (just the island)
Khomani Cultural Landscape (just Kalahari Gemsbok NP)

Richtersveld: one of those maps where they hand-drew the boundaries with a marker, it was even used as an example of a poor WHS map in this Linkedin article. But it actually was doable as it follows logical boundaries including a road (sand track) along the western border

Vredefort Dome (c) Protected Planet adjusted: there are 3 minor components surrounding the main area, I believe the 2 in the west shown by Protected Planet were placed wrong and should actually be at the coordinates at the official locations given (so I moved them there)

Cape Floral Region (c) Protected Planet (simplified and adjusted): overly complex core zones such as this may need a special strategy; for now, I resized the 3.2 MB file to a 55kb file which of course does not go without loss of detail. Still think it is a usable map. I also altered the Protected Planet file to incorporate the 2025 boundary modification.

There are some zones showing in Czechia in Germany. I will dig in, as I normally limit core zones to the country borders... Possibly it would be better not to merge zones of different countries.

I think POIs will compensate somewhat. If sth would be in for technical reasons but has no POI, I think leaving it out, should be okay. In general, too small better than too large.

we have several issues with this (see to do list) - if the solution indeed is to split across countries, we could do so; however, sometimes it does not seem to determine country borders well (for example DRC's Garamba NP shows in Sudan); needs some analysis, could be several causes (Garamba was drawn slightly across the border here and there, I could try to remove that and see if it still shows in Sudan)

This is still wrong, and DRC does not even border Sudan (it does with South Sudan - all South Sudan sites also show with Sudan, so the borders of Sudan do not seem to be determined correctly) - I have updated the To do list for this

I had made a remark on that on the forum already. On the country map of Argentina, there is also the Brasilian Iguaçu Site depicted,
And the Afghanistan map contains the core zone of Tugray Forest, an WHS in Tajikistan.
So I guess WHS touching other countries' borders will Generally show on both countries' maps.

Will need some time but currently busy at work and my brain is rather fried.

Issues are:
1) The world borders we use seem to be incorrect. I need to figure out how to get a current and correct file.
2) I think the GIS operations we use (zone IN country) are not fully in, but partially in. I will have to see if I can simply cut the zone to the country border.

_oscar sent in a bunch, mainly of China:
Xidi and Hongcun
Yungang Grottoes
Historic Ensemble of the Potala Palace, Lhasa
The Cosmological Axis of Yogyakarta and its Historic Landmarks
Lushan National Park
Ancient City of Ping Yao
Temple, Mansion and Cemetery of Confucius (this one has an unusable official map; _oscar used this secondary source from a World Cultural Heritage institute in China. I have marked it as "Community Identified" to make the differentiation with the official maps, but the source seems reliable enough.)

And I did a couple random ones:
Stoclet House
Grand Place, Brussels
Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens
Lakes of Ounianga (c) Protected Planet

And I disabled the maps of the Le Corbusier Sites and the Moravian Church Settlements, because as global, multinational sites, they distorted the views of country maps such as Germany too much. We might need to split them by country, see above.

Astraftis produced his first core zone yesterday: the Flemish Beguinages. He will now continue with the Evaporitic Karst (that will keep him busy for a while...).
I only did the Royal Palaces of Abomey.

Some from yesterday:

Malpelo (c) Protected Planet
Valongo Wharf
Sítio Roberto Burle Marx
Sao Luis
Sao Francisco Square
Okavango Delta (c) Protected Planet

We're now officially halfway! 50% of the WHS on this website have a core zone map. And there still is lots of potential ones to do.

Almost, yes. And we can get much further, I have been doing an inventory over the past days (still to be finished) but there aren't that many WHS that have no map at all or where the map is so poor that it is unusable. Also, the skill of our mappers is beyond what I thought possible beforehand.
