I have uploaded the North Western batch SE (Somme) and PC (Pas de Calais).

There is nothing too enlightening to add, but I did learn there were a few sites right by the coast, one of which was a Chinese cemetary, I knew it exisited, but it is always arresting to encounter memorials from outside the my concept of the Allied and Central powers

I always find that with multi location sites it can sometimes be tough to pick out the really intersting/ important sites from the more standard/ representative sites.
The community perspecitive text does it and I think the gallery of these sites also helps do that, (though I am currently finidng it hard to relate the images as displayed on the gallery to specific locations, is there a way of clicking on the images and that highlighting the location it is associated with (it may already do that and I am just doing it wrong)).

But looking at the maps of the locations, I wonder if there is a way of giving added prominence to a handful of key locations (strictly fewer than 10%, but more like 7 or 8 in this specific case). We have the diamond for hidden gem and the you can pick out the museums in the locations, they just don't jump out visually, and they may not always be the same thing as the site highights.

Maybe there are only a WHS where it would be of use, and I wouldn't want't to get too prescriptive (e.g. you haven't really ticked off this WHS unless you have visited componnent X).

As a quick starter the locations in First World War Memorial sites I would think of giving visual promience to would be (though I readily admit this comes from a British persepctive, and just covers the sites I have visited/ mapped so there will be others):
Thiepval Memorial
Menin Gate Ypres
Tyne Cot Cemetery
Ensemble memoriel de Douaumont/ Verdun
Canadian National Vimy Memorial

FYI - I have split off the topic meltwaterfalls started in the post above this one into a new topic: https://forum.worldheritagesite.org/index.php?action=vthread&forum=3&topic=2475. So please continue any ideas and discussion on Identifying & Drawing attention to Significant parts large Multi Location Inscriptions over there.

This topic will stay focused on the Core Zone Maps

The core zones of the Belgian WWI memorials are live now as well.
Thanks, Astraftis!

The set for the whole WHS is now complete!

That is great news.

I just uploaded the three previously unmapped Saudi core zones (Al-Faw, Hail Rock Art and Al-Ahsa Oasis), I think that is everything done there.

Alarm! I cannot see the zones of at least Assevent (Maubeuge) and le Quesnoy!

It was a pleasure!

Like meltwaterfalls, what insights did I gain? I don't know, as all the zones were pretty straightforward and more or less already mapped in OpenStreetMap. I admit I minimally simplified some when I could not get any rationale for some non obvious shapes from the maps or the satellite. Also, the fort of Loncin and the Ploegsteert Wood military cemetery have unexpected shapes with respect to what can be seen on the ground.

Some observations:
- the core zones of Commonwealth cemeteries in the woods and fields usually also include the paths leading to them... maybe this prevents them to be cut off from the "main" roads in the future!
- as I learned when uploading the photo, the Nieuport memorial is "just" the triangular monument in front of the much more imposing monument to king Albert I. I wonder whether this happened on purpose...
- the Belgian military cemetery in Oeren is ring-shaped: the church in the middle is not included. I mapped it accordingly, but it does not show when uploading.
- there are two locations with two sublocations: the enclos at Tamines, with the monument on the riverside and the tombstones around the curch; and the Essex Farm cemetery, with the cemetery proper and the nearby concrete remains of the "dressing station".

OK - the mapper who created the geojson must have skipped it (both are in Nord, so Ian?)

Enclaves are a bit special in geojson (in the strict sense we are using it). I can show you how to do it.

I have had to bodge them together a bit, leaving a straight trail to the main boundary and nibbling out the enclave. I had to do some on the Al-Ahsa Oasis over teh weekend, though my favourite is the Cathedral courtyard in Hildesheim. if anyone has come across a more elegant solution let me know.

I have added:
- Poverty Point (easy)
- Welsh Slate Landscape - for this, I disentangled the file we had from CADW, the Welsh Government's historic environment service. We had it at 2 enclaves (at components 1 and 2, see this), but I only noticed a true one at component 5. Happy to hear if I am mistaken, have a look at the core zone maps at https://www.worldheritagesite.org/list/the-slate-landscape-of-northwest-wales/

JakobF finished Rammelsberg & Goslar, also very detailed and he drew it all himself! https://www.worldheritagesite.org/list/rammelsberg-and-goslar/

Today I did:
- Derwent Valley Mills (used the file from Heritage UK and resized it, I believe without loss of essential detail)
- Gorham's Cave (official map is poor, core zone map now is at least functional in showing what major elements are inside and which are outside)

An update on this one (thanks, Solivagant): there is an underground part (tunnel) at component 1 which I have now added, and the enclaves are in 1 and 5
