Spent all day looking at China today. Had a few thoughts:
* I think we should answer for ourselves how we want to use local spelling.
* Mount Taishan seems wrong. Shan means mountain. So its Mount Tai Mountain.
Question is: How should we handle local spellings and meanings?

It's a common mistake, it should be 'Mount Tai'.

For the official site names, we refer to them by their inscriptions - so it is Mount Taishan, although it's actually 2x mountain.
In other instances, I'd use the common name in English.
