It does not work for me either, I will put it on the bug list...

Should work (and has). Bug.

Assif:
Are there any plans to reinstantiate them some time?

General comment. Reinstantiating sounds like it's just 2 clicks. It actually means reprogram (work). And as such these things are subject to prioritization by me and Els. Things I had to prioritize are performance tuning and security hardening (boring). But there also new features, I have wanted for a long time and that the new website finally allowing me to implement. E.g.: The new image handling is a huge improvement. And yet another major improvement is going live this weekend.

elsslots:
The answer is "Requests have come in to bring back the previous countdown-style checklist, also with a more concise list to simplify updating on a phone or poor internet connections. We intend to offer this as an alternative next to the current visit-style checklist."

Not sure this will actually be simpler. But we will allow you to edit a long country grouped list. If you dont want visits, just keep a single (dummy) visit and enter everything. Me personally, I prefer visits as this is how I add sites and feels way more natural and nicer to store.

Also keep in mind that China has a long WHS list and Turkey has a super long Tentative list. I found, with more and more sites being added, the old format at the end no longer manageable.

elsslots:
As it is stated on the Community Page, we only show active members - those who have logged in at least once during the past year. Before the migration, this threshold was lower (3 years I believe, or even longer).

I think there are multiple reasons from excluding users on inactivity. And note inactivity here means not logging in for a year. The main reasons to me:
* Data protection: If you havent logged in for a year, your consent for having your data shown may not be a given.
* Unfair/Bloat: We create a very bloated list if everyone who was active in the past just stays around forever.

We do have separate user types for retired and deceased, so a Hall of Fame list is still possible (and in the case of Iain you can see this at work)

elsslots:
This is an already known bug, listed a few posts above. There is an option "Show full reviews" just above the reviews that does exactly that. Unfortunately the button does not work at the moment but that will be fixed shortly.

Indeed. I added the button as I was researching a trip and found it annoying to read through 20 pages. But for SEO and CMS it's better to have each review with a dedicated page. So this is the compromise. Not sure why it broke and will fix.

aturtschi:
Updating visited WHC sites and by-country-view

Not sure what you are referring to. I programmed the old site and I dont think this ever existed. There were tentative sites and WHS and two checklist forms.

In the visit search, nominated should show WHC nominated sites.

aturtschi:
Community rankings are somewhat strange. - Today, for example, Iain Jackson and Luis Filipe Gaspar are both ranked as #7 with different number of visits (916 vs. 891), and Solivagant is ranked next as #8 (should be #9?). - Joel on the Road and nan have the same number of visits (632), but show up as #36 (shown first, unexpectedly), and #35 (shown thereafter).

1) Deceased community members get a honorary position, but are not counted in the active top visitors list. This was a compromise between different views in the community. I can live with that.
* Forever to eternity.
* Active, real, alive humans only.

I think if the WHS count is equal, we use the tent count for ranking.

The Yeosu Hotspot connection has six sites connected to it, however, in the Connections Index, it shows up with a count of 2.

1) I think it should be renamed as Suncheon Hotspot. Suncheon has 2 of the core sites, is also on the KTX line, and way better suited for exploration.
2) The site pictures aren't loading -> bug.
3) Count is probably a bug (on me).

No it isn't. I am in the process of checking the connections for missing ones, and stumbled upon this one this morning. Have added the missing connected sites, page just needs to be reloaded (done)

I by no means intended to sound depreciative of your intensive work which I regard highly. I truly have no idea in programming.

I really do not want to drag this on, and it is not that important, but maybe my detailed explanations were unclear. Hence an updated explanation using examples from this morning's rankings with unexpected results, along with some visuals: example rankings with unexpected results and explanations

* Iain is unfortunately deceased. There is even a blog post on the matter. So Luis is No7 of the active community. And Iain gets a spot in memoriam.
* The other one is a bug and I am fixing it.

I spent the weekend dealing with a log of the backlog and I think we are closer to being fully okay. Most of it was the usual small stuff plus a few DQ issues.

One comment on our images (and Els will probably explain the process in more depth): If you embed images, please take a look at the finished layout. There is a preview image for precisely that purpose. There is for me no way to automatically put pictures where they fit best. Maybe CSS wizards can do. I am decidedly not.

I took the liberty of editing Zoe's recent to showcase this:

A few highlights of the changes brought live this weekend:
- Individual connection pages have been redone, showing definition, the person who suggested the connection and default sort by name. Example: https://www.worldheritagesite.org/connections/viking-cultural-route/
- Site pages: the maps now more clearly show a list of locations/components of the site; the locations include an external link to Google Maps so you can browse there for maps in different alphabets. Also the differentiation in links has been brought back (UNESCO, official, and related). And the 'show full reviews' option (to read all reviews of a site in their entirety at once) has been repaired.
- Profile pages of members: here also, the list of WHS visited is now presented more neatly.
- Community Index page now has a tracker to see the most recent visits by members. Also, the bug in order by position has been fixed.
- In the CMS, uploading images: some people experienced 403-errors (forbidden access) in certain situations. Improvements have been made here but we still have to monitor whether it has solved all. Let us know (best via bugs@w....org) when you still have issues (include screenshots and your ip address).
- In the CMS as well, more hints / tool tips are given regarding best practices for adding visits and reviews.

And from the Data Quality side:
- all broken internal links should be repaired, including those part of the community perspectives (except for the Beech Forests, which I am still working on...)
- all WHS should now be searchable without having to add "foreign" characters in the first 4 characters, so it is Catalhöyük instead of Çatalhöyük and Mons Klint instead of Møns Klint (for the TWHS I am currently at 70% done)

I looked through the forum and the FAQ, but probably missed it. How do I delete old reviews? I re-visited Gyeongju recently and have posted the review, but the old relatively sparse review remains. Moreover, I noticed Clyde's WHS picture used as the representative image in the description is automatically duplicated in many of the reviews that no longer have a picture, is that by design? I opted to simply edit my old review for the Joseon Royal Tombs and that proved fairly easy, but there are some revisits that can be completely new experiences, where it can be preferred to simply delete the old review.

Its been fun to learn / navigate the new website, I was a little late to start exploring, but I love a lot of the new features.

You should be able to Unpublish them.
Go to Your Reviews
In the list that appears, go to the review you want to be unseen and click on the 3 small dots next to its name
An option Unpublish should appear.

If you don't see this, it might be an authorization issue - so please let us know whether it works or not.

Yes. Sort of a teaser to upload your own picture!

Looks my only option is to edit, but not delete?

It is called "Unpublish", but I guess you don't see that either anywhere?

It should be at the bottom:
*Save as draft.
*Submit for moderation
*Unpublish

By default we put the featured image of a site as banner if none is given for appeal.

When on the Schokland page, the rotating pictures (one panorama type, one not) change the layout the text, which makes for an interesting reading experience! This is on laptop, phone less so. Not an issue in my book, but said I'd say it in case. Thanks again for all that has gone into improving the site.
