Jean raised an idea to have a map with our WHS Community members who would be interested in catching up (have a drink). Nowadays, it should be pretty hard to travel around Europe and not meet some of us.

Proposal would be to publish such a map in the private area of the website (not visible without login, not indexed by search engines). You would obviously have to consent and consent could be taken away. They would ping you via email.

I would be open to this. Based on the timing and my availability, I would enjoy an outing to Hollyhock House with a fellow world heritage traveller. It's location in East Hollywood is accessible by Metro Train or in some cases based on location/interest I could use my vehicle to make the trip as efficient and pleasant as possible.

While LA is not the best WHS destination, its value is currently increasing as a WHS traveller hub. Yosemite National Park (California), Grand Canyon National Park (Arizona), Taliesin West (Phoenix Area), and El Pinacate (Sonora, MX) are all within reasonable driving distances. Tentative nominations like the California Current Conservation Complex (CA) and Petrified Forest National Park (AZ) are also worthy destinations. The drive to Redwood National Park is probably too long for most people, in this last case Portland, Oregon or San Francisco would be the more suitable base to see the Redwoods.

Other Add-ons: There are frequent and affordable flights with Alaska Airlines via Burbank Airport (no hassle) that makes a trip to Olympic National Park via Seattle very doable. Alaska Airlines via LAX also has routine non-stop flights to Cabo San Lucas for those interested in visiting the Gulf of California WHS (including components around La Paz) and flights to Anchorage to visit Wrangell-St. Elias National Park (part of Glacier Parks WHS).

This is a great idea. Unlike meeting distant relatives with no understanding for my hobby, I love meeting other community members abroad :). I am all in for this

No need to give all details yet. I have to add the hard to visit flag and will also publish a private page with it. Los Angeles imho is a place people will pass through if they visit California ;)

I'm in allthough I'm on the road at least half of the year happy to meet up somewhere!

Likewise, we aren't in Sydney all that often but when we are - we're happy to meet up with visitors!

I will visit several places in western Europe (Belgium, Spain, Germany, Switzerland) before the end of this year...

I just wanted to go to Australia, but very complicated with covid measures! Unfortunately. I don't despair to go there, but quite recently the domestic flights needed PCR test (waste of time and money, and quarantine if it's positive...it means it's impossible!)!

You're in luck now! All incoming covid restrictions for Australia have been removed - you don't need a negative test of any sort, and you don't even need a vaccine anymore. We had a massive Omicron wave in January (and a smaller one in July), after which the governments basically just gave up on controlling it.
