A bit late to add on, but Solivagant's review of the Lincoln Memorial with his personal experiences of the March on Washington was fascinating -- what an experience! Listening to Mahalia Jackson and Marian Anderson must have been amazing, and I hadn't heard Nobel Laureate Bob Dylan's
Only a Pawn in Their Game before. A lot has changed in the US since the 1960's, but Solivagant rightly notes that the struggle still continues, as is evidenced by
Black Lives Matter Plaza, across Lafayette Square from the White House.
Also, I've referenced it in the USA thread, but for anyone interested in an easily accessible overview of the US Civil Rights movement, I highly recommend civil rights leader
John Lewis' autobiographical graphic novel series
March.
