nfmungard alerted me to this earlier this week:

http://nepalheritageworld.com/taj-mahal/

Someone has copied our full page about the Taj Mahal, including the names of some of the reviewers. Some of the other content on this website has been copied as well.
Of course this is not allowed, and I have sent an urgent e-mail to the webmaster of that website to take the content down. To no avail, unfortunately.

Does anyone have other ideas how to handle this?
Fortunately it's not a very professional or active website, they seem to have lost interest in July 2015.

Probably "teaching you to suck eggs" Els!
(see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teaching_grandmother_to_suck_eggs )
This web site has some suggestions including
"Take it to the Top
Contact the offending Web site's host to make a complaint, sending the Cease and Desist order along with the evidence. Most hosting companies are very strict on these matters and will usually suspend the site temporarily until matters are cleared up.
File a DMCA complaint with Google and the other search engines telling them to remove the site from their search indexes as the site involved violates copyright laws."

See http://www.hostway.com/web-resources/search-engine-optimization/what-to-do-when-someo ne-copies-your-web-site/

Whether it is really worth worrying in this case is another matter - it isn't as if it is a major use by a site which is likely to be widely seen or that it might be come widely known that your Web site is an "easy touch". Though I guess it could be "interesting" to learn how to contact Google etc on such matters

Some googling ("mungard world heritage") adds a few more sites copying the content:

minecraftlauncher.net
rudi-parabola.com
www.gonglue8.com
new.nerdydata.com/okefenokeewhs.org
trialspp.cf
www.manywoodworkingplans.com
www.jouer-enligne.com

Probably, more will pop up with a wider search range.

I see multiple problems here:
1) I post here under my actual name. I may need to revisit this.
2) These sites are not legit. And may actually be harmful. I don't want my name to be associated to these types of sites.
3) They changed my text all so slightly, but still attribute the text to me. It looks as if I have a worse time writing English sentences than I think I do.

A fair few of them seem to be just scrapper bots, so I fear hunting them down could be a bit of a Sisyphean task. They seem to use a thesaurus tool to replace every few words, making them harder to track down, and rendering them as bizarre reading. It seems they are there in the background to maximise search results, case in point that manywoodworkingplans.com one is just a pile of any ol' stuff it picks up on the internet, it then redirects to the main site selling plans for sheds.

One I came across that is a little different is this one:
http://thetraveluster.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/ayutthaya.html It is actually on a fairly legitimate and up to date travel blog. I think they may have just saved that page for reference whilst on the road and it is now accessible through a google search.
