I will create a more prominent spot on the sitepages for the "official website" belonging to a WHS. Now they often are missing or mixed up with other links.

Some help will be needed to gather all official websites from all countries. Thanks already to Assif who came up with the idea and will start inventarizing. If you want to take care of a country, you can "claim" it here so no one else will do the same work.

You can just e-mail me the URL's and the WHS they belong to.

I can do UK.

A few qs

a. Not all WHS have "Official" Web sites. If not do we ignore them or do we choose the "best" site for description and visiting information.... and if that is Wikpedia or wikitravel?
b. I some cases the information might be within a "larger" Web site covering an area or city (where for instance only 1 building has been inscribed). Do we include such "larger" Web sites?
c. Sites with multiple locations may have more than 1 Website or the most obvious web site might not cover some locations. Do we allow multiple Web sites per WHS?
d. Do we post them here or send them to you in some other way?

>> I would rather have "not available" in that case. The good thing about "official" should be that visitor information is accurate.
b. I some cases the information might be within a "larger" Web site covering an area or city (where for instance only 1 building has been inscribed). Do we include such "larger" Web sites?
>>Possibly. I will soon encounter "Rome", so that could be a good testcase
c. Sites with multiple locations may have more than 1 Website or the most obviuos web site might not cover some locations. Do we allow multiple Web sites per WHS?
>>yes it is possible, though I have seen serial nominations included in 1 website (see the Longobards)
d. Do we post them here or send them to you in some other way?
>> I'd rather have them per e-mail, can be sent to els@worldheritagesite.org

If you stumble upon other worthwhile websites while researching, you can send them in too of course. As long as you clearly mark the difference about which is Official and which isn't.

I've started preparing the list. I'll post here any problems I run through.
These are sites I couldn't find an official website for:
Jam Minaret, all Aremnian sites, all Algerian sites. For the Algerian sites I managed to find an official site for all WHSs, but not for the individual sites (not even Algier). Any help?

I think there are a number of countries which have a web site by the government department or Quango which is responsbile for WHS - either with or without individual Web sites as well . Mexico is another one
http://www.patrimonio-mexico.inah.gob.mx/index.php

Worth linking on the "country page"?

I think it should be possible to do the same job for the Tentative List site. For example the Piedmont vineyards nomination has this official website http://www.paesaggivitivinicoli.it/
