Re location images: If you see a location without an image and you have one, add it to images and notify us. Partially the pictures already exist but are tagged too broadly so they can't be mapped to each locatin.

Have a look at the Pile Dwellings gallery: thanks to Philipp, views of many locations were added.

The Djerba gallery is pretty amazing, indeed. :D Really feels like going there.

Hello all, I am fairly new to the website and I've noticed that there seems to be a process of replacing public domain photos with non-public domain photos. Is there a particular reason for this? I took some photos of one of the tentative sites that doesn't have many photos, and have uploaded them here in the past. I was thinking of uploading them to Wikimedia Commons and releasing them to the public domain as well, but if that will create an issue here then I will refrain from doing so. Thanks!

Public domain photos are anonymous. We are a community-based website, where community participation is valued above all.


This way around is no problem: you remain the photo owner and can do with it what you want. As long as you post them under your own (nick)name here.

I'd like to reach out to you to improve the picture sets of the New Zealand (T)WHS. I am travelling there now and am doing my best to cover as many aspects as I can, but one can do only so much.

Especially looking for:
- Tongariro WHS: pictures of scenery along the Tongariro crossing, picture of Tongariro volcano, pictures of Kakaramea, Tihia and Pihanga volcanoes in the second/northern component, pictures of the landscape in the snow.
- Te Wahipounamu WHS: pictures of Mount Aspiring, Doubtful Sound, Milford Sound and other POIs not covered yet
- Sub-Antarctic Islands WHS: pictures of all 5 named island groups

Pictures for these 3 TWHS that don't have any yet:
- Kahurangi National Park, Farewell Spit and Canaan
- Waters and seabed of Fiordland (8 marine reserves)
- Whakarua Moutere (North East Islands)

And:
- Kermadec Islands: more variation in pictures in general
- Auckland Volcanic Fields: coverage of more locations
