It has been snowing in the Netherlands for a few days now, so I have to stay indoors and am in the mood for some major improvements on the website. One of the things I still want to complete is to have a good photo and sensible introduction text on each of the 911 site pages. Now a number of them are still very meagre.

One of the reasons for that is that it is quite hard to obtain photos of the more obscure WHS. I generally use my own photos when I have been there, and look for photos in the public domain on the web.

But you can help me too - if you are so kind to provide me with a specific photo!
I would use the photo as the main photo on each site page (like the photo of the seal here: http://www.worldheritagesite.org/sites/peninsulavaldes.html) , and would of course in the subtitle rightfully attribute it to you and place a link to your website if you have one.

If you have a photo of reasonable quality displaying one of the following WHS, and at least 350 px wide, send it to: els@worldheritagesite.org

- Minaret of Jam
- Beni Hammad

Hi Els,
Not sure if this is useful in any way, but according to the following article

http://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/web/getty-images-foto-agentur-gibt-bilder-zum-einbette n-frei-a-957186.html

Getty Images now allows the free use of a lot of their pictures on websites, as long as there is no commercial purpose intended with the pics. I think you would have to embed them and a Getty logo would appear somewhere.

Certainly, user-generated photos are the most authentic, but for more obscure sites which have no photos at all, this may be an option you could consider. (Assuming Getty has pics)

It goes without saying that it is absolutely up to you - it's your website, and we're honored to be your guests.

I will look into this option, Khuft. Also thanks for bumping this old topic up, as people (thanks Jonas, Michael!) have been sending me lots of pictures yesterday.

As the Original post was already 4 years old, the list with "wanted" pictures has changed over time. I now already have quite a few of those described above, but am missing photos of some of the more obscure recent sites.

I'll try to publish an updated list today or tomorrow.

You have a number of these from me already in my reviews - e.g Kaziranga, Champaner, Ambohimanga, Gough, Al ain, Kaesong, Zabid, Osun-osogbo, Manas, Koguryo kingdom - Is it that you want a "better" one? Many of these I would have thought were as good as most of the ones you have on the site even if they are not "magnificent" Or is it just a "different one"?

Solivagant:
a "better" one

Not especially better ones, but bigger ones!
Whenever a user uploads a photo, it is automatically being resized to the small format I use for the reviews. Otherwise it would take too much server space.
