IUCN prefers the originally larger boundaries that Brazil had sent over, but believes that the new smaller boundaries should also meet the needs to protect the area. They would like to hear that local communities consent to the smaller boundaries. IUCN would recommend considering a future extension to include the originally proposed boundaries.

IUCN believes that the site has strong potential to meet Criteria 7 and 8, but they recommend referral to ensure the state party works with local communities to secure their approval for the property.

Lebanon proposes inscription, stating that Brazil has been working with the local communities; the operational guidelines have been applied in a respectful way.

Countries provide their support for inscription. Brazil's proposed reduced property boundaries strikes a balance between protecting the extraordinary geologic values and respecting the rights of indigenous people.
