So complicated..... It appears that Korea did NOT get what it wanted (which was for Japan to be shown up as not having carried out what it promised -but, with all the hassle of votes and publicity etc perhaps it did actually achieve a minor discomfiture of Janan??? As much as it was ever likely to achieve and something to "bank" for raising next year???)......and is somewhat unappy generally with its lack of support at UNESCO on this matter of Japan's "failure" to publicly achnowledge its past treatment of Korea(ns)
"At the 47th meeting of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee held in Paris, France on the morning of the 7th (local time), it was discussed whether to formally adopt the agenda of "Evaluation of the Implementation of the Committee's Decisions" related to the Meiji Industrial Heritage, which was previously put on the "provisional agenda."
The representative of the Korean side explained the reason for the proposal to the effect that Japan's lackluster measures should be reviewed at this year's committee meeting.
However, Japan objected to the proposal, saying that it should be discussed at the bilateral level rather than the committee, and submitted an "amendment" that removed the proposal, which South Korea said was unacceptable and asked for a vote.
The vote was conducted by secret ballot of the 21 member states, and Japan's amendment was approved by a vote of 7 in favor and 3 against."

Amendment to inscribe Peruaçu River Canyon, Brazil (submitted by Lebanon)

Note: this and the one mentioned above about Khuttal are proposed amendments, not decisions yet of course.

You can see them coming in at 'Amendments' at https://whc.unesco.org/en/sessions/47COM/documents/

Yes, today they celebrated a lots of removals from the "in danger" list: I got Ghadamès, Abou Mena, others... but missed Atsinanna.

I was distracted and on top of that a little confused. Anyway, if I understood well the ICOMOS representative noticed that this year there is a record of requests for disendangerments, surpassing the actual candidatures for nominations! And I think he was rather pissed off by that.

Again if I was attentive enough, the harshest discussions were between Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Poland. I missed the exact point about St. Sophia in Kyiv, which stays on the "in danger" list, but then Ukraine had some remarks to make on the risks of turistic exploitations of some Russian sites (especially Altai).

Another "topical" moment was the awkward situation when discussing Maloti-Drakensberg, when South Africa passed the word to Zambia (I don't know why not Lesotho), who passed it back to South Africa, then they asked the secretary to explain the situation, but he replied that this is up to the state parties, and finally, apaprently reluctantly, Zambia said something.
