- Wadi Wurayah (UAE)

I think we can make this bold as well, since the nomination dossier was already submitted last year (and deemed complete) but UAE prioritized the Faya Palaeolandscape for 2025.

The same is true for The Bashkir Shikhans of Toratau, Kushtau and Yuraktau (Russia).

Mayon Volcano Cultural Landscape (Philippines)

@Els, I find out that our website is still "Mayon Volcano Natural Park" not a CL as in the proposal and in UNESCO official page.

Lake Tana Island

Yay! I think I can stay home in 2026 all year because I have 18 already from the 2026 nomination list!
Wojciech and Solivagant even have 20. A good year for many (although we still need to cross out a few sites).

La Payunia, Campos Volcánicos Llancanelo y Payún Matrú (Argentina)

This one even has a nomination website: https://payuniapatrimonio.ar/
Looking at the Situacion Actual the process seems to be stuck at CONAPLU (the Argentinian body that cooperates with UNESCO). A Preliminary Assessment seems to have been filled in (but not submitted to Paris?), no full nomination dossier seems to exist yet beyond an earlier one from 2014.

So I think it is safe to cross this off our list.

- Volcanic Islands of Sao Tome and Principe (ST)

From Sao Tome, it will not be this natural site but the cultural Les roças de Monte Café, Agua-lzé e Sundy de São Tomé e Príncipe

The State of the Pyrenees (Andora, France, Spain)

They are not ready yet. Latest news of Jan 30, 2025 is that there was a meeting of the steering committee of the 3 nations involved, "served to review the proposal for a general management plan for the candidacy, the collaboration strategies between the three states and establish the actions to be developed before submitting the candidacy to UNESCO."

- Tarrafal Concentration Camp (Cabo Verde)

I'd say this one is unlikely too for 2026: I haven't found any news updates after April 2024.
At that moment, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between "Angola, Guinea-Bissau and Portugal to facilitate a transnational candidacy of the Tarrafal Concentration Camp" (Source)

I can understand the transnational approach considering the value this site also has for those countries, and I am sure Cabo Verde also chose this approach to let the 3 other countries pick up part of the bill, money being an obstacle that has put CV's nominations on hold in the past.

I hope to visit this site next week, so maybe I will learn more.

no full nomination dossier seems to exist yet (La Payunia)

I would agree that they seem unlikely at this point. I am wondering if we can find any news about these sites, which I've yet see confirmation of a submitted nomination file?

- Zakouma National Park (Chad)
- Catholic Mission of Ambodifotatra (Madagascar)
- Gebel Qatrani Area (Egypt)
- Ancient Port of Banbhore (Pakistan)
- Großglockner-Hochalpenstraße (Austria)
- Una National Park (Bosnia)
- Isla de Flores Cultural Landscape (Uruguay)

Re UNA NP - see this article of 14 Jan
Main para in English "I was also very pleased with the news that today the nomination file for the inscription of Martinbrod waterfalls on the UNESCO list was submitted. These waterfalls are on the Tentative List and now the documentation has been supplemented so that this natural asset is inscribed on the most important World Heritage List. I expect that the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH will soon confirm the amendments to the Law on Nature Conservation, by which we have defined the new term "travertine", as well as its protection, which is recognized as a unique value at the Martinbrod Waterfalls. The inscription of the waterfalls on the Una River on the UNESCO World Heritage Site will be of great importance not only for the National Park "Una" and for the area of this part of BiH, but for our entire country – said Minister Pozder."

- Großglockner-Hochalpenstraße (Austria)

It still seems to be in the pipeline, being one of the only two sites remaining on Austria's T List after an update last month.

The last news item I can find is from April 2024. Unfortunately, most of the text is behind a paywall (and I haven't been able to circumvent that one). The excerpt says that "they need 2 more years".
https://www.kleinezeitung.at/wirtschaft/18513387/grossglockner-hochalpenstrasse-braucht-noch-zwei-jahre-fuer-welterbe

They also have a website and a Facebook page, both have no mentions of a nomination submitted.
Also, news in German is easily Googleable so if something was reported we should have found it.
So I'd say: move ahead 1 year.
