There are a number of sites that were adjourned during previous meetings (Gdansk, Rwanda Genocide Memorials, WWI Memorials). I see nothing on the provisional agenda that suggests that they will be discussed. They can't be left in limbo forever... (especially since the "study on sites associated with recent conflicts and other negative and divisive memories" has been published in 2021).

In your opinion, when can we expect to get the ICOMOS and IUCN evaluations?

winterkjm:
the entire catalogue of nominations

Bagh-e Babur (Afghanistan)

We may be able to add it to the catalog above, perhaps awaiting a last minute official addition from UNESCO.

I don't feel that the first inscribed sites of recent conflict memorials will take place this year, and Gdansk was not considered as such I believe in the latest reports. We may know more in the extraordinary session on January 24.

According,
https://whc.unesco.org/archive/2023/whc23-18extcom-4-EN.pdf
the first sites considered (because completed) would be:

Funerary and memorial sites of the First World War (Western Front), Belgium and France / The Landing
Beaches, Normandy, 1944, France / Brâncusi Monumental Ensemble of Târgu Jiu, Romania / Genocide memorial
sites: Nyamata, Murambi, Gisozi and Bisesero, Rwanda / Human Rights, Liberation and Reconciliation: Nelson
Mandela Legacy Sites, South Africa / ESMA Museum and Site of Memory – Former Clandestine Center of
Detention, Torture and Extermination, Argentina.

ESMA is already indicated above, would they grill the others by being the first site of this kind registered post-debate?

Regarding the Russian sites, I am curious how they will be treated.

Alikander99:

Probably beginning of July. In general, it is 2 months before a session.

Ouch, when it rains, it pours... such a deserving site stuck in a limbo (and also in worsening conditions, judging from the article) :-(

Remind me if i'm wrong, but Icomos was seriously against this kind of sites in the report, wasn't It?

I will open a separate topic for it, as this is not easy to answer.

WHC 2022 & 2023 - 57 nominations

A (maybe) interesting bit of trivia: based on the 'ticking' of the corresponding tentative sites, these nominations are seriously 'under-visited' (I've queried on 58 potential sites including the Kabul one). Of course, not every community member 'ticks' the TWHS, or not as seriously as the WHS. But still, it is remarkable how low the visited numbers are for a double session:

To distinguish between the Extraordinary Session of 24-25 Jan 2023 and the Ordinary meeting in September 2023, I have for the time being listed the WHS and decisions made at the Extraordinary Session under the year 2022 (pending a more elegant solution).
