I think these 7 nominations stand out to me as potentially premature / delayed. Any one see any promising reports or announcements on Social Media? I don't have X or Instagram. Both are occasionally used to highlight a submitted nomination file.

- Tarrafal Concentration Camp (Cabo Verde)
- Ikom Stone Monoliths - Alok and Emaghabe (Nigeria)
- Baiheliang and Rawda Island Nilometer (Egypt, China)
- Koytendag Mountain Ecosystem (Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan)
- Zomin Mountains (Uzbekistan)
- Cuban Caribbean Reef System (Cuba)
- Isla de Flores Cultural Landscape (Uruguay)

Small comment from my side (and ultimately, Els should have the final say). For me, this forum isn't the right place to debate politics. And this threat is about WHC 2027.

Many World Heritage Sites were created under rulers or systems with deeply problematic histories:

*Aachen? Consider Charlemagne and the Saxon conquest. The Saxons did not convert to Christianity by free will.
* Malbork? Built by the Teutonic Order during the Northern Crusades. The Baltics did not convert to Christianity by free will.
* Bordeaux? A significant part of its prosperity was tied to the slave trade.

The Mongols and later Timur were responsible for some of the most devastating events in human history, literally killing a substantial portion of Earth's population, unrivalled to the 20th century. Still, who doesnt like Samarkand?

And we don't even need to get started on the Assyrians.

We now even designate "dark history" sites, which I personally still have mixed feelings about.

Yet these places are World Heritage Sites today. Protecting human history—however uncomfortable—should remain separate from current political debates. Your personal travel choices, of course, are entirely up to you.

Okay, I see Els had already commented it. It's time for a reverse order forum :)

Jurre:
The restoration of the Vooruit in Ghent is finished. The building is now ready to become a WHS.

(In Dutch, with a video) Na grote restauratie: 'De Vooruit' dient aanvraag in om werelderfgoed te worden

Vooruit festival hall seeks recognition as a World Heritage Site after renovation costing €10 million

This week they are celebrating, with many activities, and especially free visits on Sunday (sold out, but maybe I'll manage to squeeze in...) and conferences about the restoration.
