Let's try to update this and the
2025 page with what we know after the 2023 WHC. Still 1 nomination per country allowed.
winterkjm:
- The Diy Gid Biy Cultural Landscape of the Mandara Mountains (Cameroon)
Extension was rejected by ICOMOS in 2023, advised to go independently. However, 2025 seems short notice (= Feb 1, 2024)
winterkjm:
- Petroglyphs of Bangucheon (Republic of Korea)
Replaced by Capital Fortifications of Hanyang
winterkjm:
- Koytendag Mountain Ecosystem (Turkmenistan)
I don't think we have heard anything about it in ages. And who will head the Silk Road nomination? Kazakhstan?
winterkjm:
- City of Carcassonne and its sentinel mountain castles [extension] (France)
It seems France will choose Carnac over this.
winterkjm:
Delayed Nominations (4)
Gdansk has been floating around for a while as well, as it was Postponed Sine Die. May quickly resurface as a site of memory. D-Day beaches as well.
winterkjm:
Vila Viçosa (Portugal)
The Ãlvaro Siza sites are also a candidate. Maybe Portugal will have to choose, somehow I think the Siza nomination is more likely.

will go for Neuschwanstein in 2025.
And China possibly for Imperial Kiln Sites of Jingdezhen, or Migratory Bird Sanctuaries along the Coast of Yellow Sea-Bohai Gulf of China [Phase II] (they will not waste their 1 nomination on this extension I guess), or The Ancient Waterfront Towns in the South of Yangtze River
India could go for the Kashmir Gardens as they apparently have finished their dossier already (
source). However, this choice might be controversial and there always seems to be a lot of domestic rivalry between the Indian nominations.
