Croatia wrote the amendment for inscription of Ani. Another overrule of ICOMOS.... Is it going to be one of these years that everything just will be accepted?

I wonder if Korea and Thailand regret withdrawing their nominations!

I think it will really sting if no Deferrals are upheld with the exception of Chad. Unfortunately, I think this possibility is very real. I would also potentially include the Western Tien-Shan nomination, but Kazakhstan may help this nomination based on its seat as a committee member.

At least my feeling is that ICOMOS is looked at more critically than IUCN. So natural sites may have a harder time to get in after a Deferral

There are already 7

the official website update is alway the slowest one. They have to write news article first before update the list.

Very heartening to hear the warm words between Turkey and Armenia in regards to Ani (following on from the Former Yugoslav republics earlier).

Good to be reminded of cross territory co-operation on issues is still warmly regarded.

The English feed was back up for a while (gone again now) Now it is time for Gorham's Cave, Gibraltar.

Agreed, very nice to hear. A similar sentiment with the Stećci—Medieval Tombstones nomination. I am sure Iraq's nomination will get a fair wind, if this sentiment continues. It also does not hurt that Iraq's nomination is iconic and a mixed site. Mixed nominations have had less scrutiny in recent years.

Gorham's Cave Complex, Gibraltar inscribed, and again warm words from Spain.

Meet up location for 2017 or 2018 if anyone can wrangle a trip inside? :)

Hehe, yep. Maybe it is a theme that the UK likes to tease people with not especially intuitive pronunciation: Blenheim, Greenwich, Durham, Pontcysyllte, Edinburgh(?), Gough (?)

I feel mixed feelings though, I have no doubt this nomination is world class, but it does not really follow the format of UNESCO, since its more a greatest hits of FLW works. I will be happy with an inscription, but I would not be that disappointed if it was Referred in order to better organize some of the thematic elements, comparative analysis, and even consider additional sites.

Shout out to Wisconsin, my home state for the first 2 decades of my life. No one outside of Spring Green, WI and Madison, WI will now they have a WHS (if inscribed)!

I went to a talk given by the ICOMOS representative discussing the FLW nomination, I had a brief chat with her, so she is aware of this website and forum!!
