*We now have four Indian candidates for 2017: Majuli, NP Bhitarkanika, Mumbay and temple architecture extension. Only two of them may be submitted.
*We also have three Chinese candidates for 2017: Mt. Wuyi extension, Gulangyu and Qinghai Hoh Xil. Similarly, only two of them may be submitted.
*The primeval forests extension should probably be submitted by all member states at the same time. Are there any news from any other countries except Belgium?
*Adding Eritrea and Poland we now have 47 potential candidates for 2017, which means 2 sites would have to be dropped according to current operational guidelines. This count includes 2 sites only for China and India each.
*This would be a year with a lot of underrepresented countries: Angola, Cambodia, Eritrea, French Polynesia, Ghana, Indonesia, Iraq, Kuwait, Maldives, Myanmar, Moldova, Montenegro, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Tonga, Turkmenistan, UAE, Uruguay and Vietnam. Poland and Tunisia are probably well represented, but have not submitted for a long time. |
