In my opinion

South Asia (16)

Anuradhapura -- impressive gigantic stupa architecture, cradle of Buddhism in Sri Lanka which later influence SE Asian art and culture, important site for pilgrim to worship sacred Bodhi tree (MAYBE)
Bagerhat -- already discussed in Hindu, regional importance only (NO)
Buddhist Vihara at Paharpur -- already discussed in Buddhism, one of biggest vihara but the style is not unique and can be find in NE south Asia (NO)
Champaner-Pavagadh -- early Islamic Mughal development, I preferred the best at Agra (NO)
Chola Temples -- already discussed in Hindu, impressive Hindu temple, representative of southern Indian art (YES)
Elephanta Caves -- impressive art but very small better represent by Ellora (NO)
Ellora Caves -- A real gems of Indian rock art, not only artistic but engineering masterpiece (YES)
Fatehpur Sikri -- Another beautiful Mughal city-palace, better represent by Red Fort (NO)
Hampi -- ruined city of Hindu Kingdom with many great art and unique location (YES)
Makli, Thatta -- ruined tombs (NO)
Moenjodaro -- this should be considered under pre historic (?) its significant is undeniable for Indus Valley Civilization (YES)
Pattadakal -- Another Hindu temples that represent artistic development that can be represent by Hampi or Chola (NO)
Polonnaruva --Beautiful arts of Quadrangle and Gal Vihara are superb, I would choose this more than Arunadhapura to represent Sri Lankan art (YES)
Rani-ki-Vav -- Unique step well art (MAYBE)
Taxila -- I ready discussed in Buddhism (NO)
Sigiriya -- impressive sight of fortress palace with beautiful fresco, ruined giant lion, full with mystery, and the garden is really unique (YES)

SE Asia (9)
Angkor -- nothing much to say (YES)
Ayutthaya -- Important city of SE Asia history with gigantic temple ruins and palace, a showcase of regional civilization (MAYBE)
My Son -- Champa art is very important for SE Asia history but few remains after bombs in Vietnam war (NO)
Preah Vihear Temple -- Khmer art better represent by Angkor (NO)
Pyu Ancient Cities -- I still prefer to wait for Bagan to represent this regional arts (NO)
Sukhothai -- Cradle of Thai Civilization with beautiful Sukothai styles (YES)
Thang Long -- Vietnamese citadel in Hue maybe a better representative, also few original remain (NO)
Vat Phou -- Khmer art better represent by Angkor (NO)
Ho Citadel -- few remains except the city wall (NO)

My Selection

Anuradhapura - Most ancient Kingdom, Served longest period as the capital of Sri Lanka and Sacred to Buddhism ( I prefer this compared to Polonnaruwa, 2nd most ancient kingdom)
Chola Temples -- already discussed in Hindu, impressive Hindu temple, representative of southern Indian art
Sigiriya -- impressive sight of fortress palace with beautiful fresco
Makli, Thatta -- World's Largest Necropolis
Moenjodaro -- for Indus Valley Civilization
Hampi- largest city in the world in 15th and 16th Century
Rani-ki-Vav -- Unique step well art and representative of unique sub-terrain water architecture
Fatehpur Sikri- (For personal reason), I found it very beautiful as it remained intact and unaltered (However Mughal is already represented by Agra fort)

Angkor - Biggest temple complex in world
Ayutthaya -- Important city of SE Asia history
Sukhothai -- beautiful Sukothai styles, Therveda buddhism

8 = undoubtedly "NO" – for reasons given by others – not significant enough, duplicate others without being that special themselves etc
-Bagerhat
-Champaner-Pavagadh
-Buddhist Vihara at Paharpur
-Elephanta Caves
-Pattadakal
-Preah Vihear Temple
-Pyu Ancient Cities
-Ho Citadel

4 = Incontrovertably "YES" - for the reasons given by others
-Angkor
-Chola Temples
-Ellora Caves
-Moenjodaro

"Problematic" and need "arguing"! My conclusions are - YES = 5, MAYBE = 5, NO = 3.
So, in all, I have YES = 9 out of 25 (plus definitely 1 of Anurad and Polon)!! Thus leaving some room for a few "maybe's"
-Anuradhapura – MAYBE I fear that we do need to choose between this and Polonnaruva – I just don't know enough to do so
-Ayutthaya – MAYBE – possibly special enough to "slip in"?
-Fatehpur Sikri – YES – I know that Mughal architecture is already represented but this is a very special place both for its size, concept, quality of the remains, atmosphere.
-Hampi – YES – This ruined city with its temples, bridge, markets etc really is rather special
-Makli, Thatta - MAYBE – Have visited – some fine architecture/carving from 14th-18th C. some off it is Moghal and thus overlaps but other aspects are at least "regionally" special. And yes it may be the World's biggest necropolis – but I don't find all this quite enough to justify a YES.
-My Son - MAYBE – How significant are the Champa? I will leave this to experts in this area!
-Polonnaruva - MAYBE – I fear that we do need to choose between this and Anuradhapura
-Rani-ki-Vav – NO - I find it difficult to put "single" structures into our top list unless they are VERY special and I don't think this does it
-Sukhothai – YES – comes ahead of Ayutthaya I feel
-Taxila – YES – In my view should have been included with Buddhist. As a representative of Ganharan civilisation,
-Thang Long – NO – as per Durian
-Vat Phou - NO – as per Durian
-Sigiriya – YES – as much for its "spectacular" location as for its historical/architectural remains

Champas are significant in SE Asia. However My Son is now in completely ruins. During Vietnam war, it was one of the prime target. I Think it is not that much significant to be part of top 200

kkanekahn, My Son is in Vietnam, and was bombed by American during Vietnam War, nothing relate with Cambodia - Thai conflict. The one that has been damaged by Thai army is Preah Vihear Temple during border dispute.

Apology, I was confused between two. But, both are heavily damaged. None deserves to be in top 200

My selection:

Anuradhapura (although I haven't visited Sri Lanka yet, I'd choose it over Polonnaruva, somewhat more iconic and in a good state of conservation
Ellora
Moenjodaro
Sigiriya
Angkor
Ayutthaya
Sukhothai

What about Borobudur and Prambanan? I'd choose Borobudur as top 200 material, no doubt
