We can divide it into 3 major nations

My selection
China- Yin Xu (maybe, last capital and its script)
Japan- Kyoto,Nara (major capitals, covers Japanese Architecture )
Korea- Gyeongju(maybe, for astronomical observatory)

Careful with this one - am I right that Kyoto and Nara have to be selected here if we want to keep them?

Kyoto - Y - not really archeological, but select for its myriad of emblematic temples as well as for the Nijo palace
Nara - Y - similar to Kyoto; for its temples (incl. Todai-ji with giant buddha, and Kasuga shrine)
Baekje - N - prefer Gyeongju
Ho - N - obscure site
Gusuku - N - as much as I like the quaint Ryukyu kingdom, this seems a bit niche
Gyeongju - Y - very important Korean site, capital of Silla kingdom, with key monuments
Koguryo (China) - Maybe - the step pyramid almost convinced me
Xanadu - Maybe - but I might prefer Karakorum
Yin Xu - N - less relevant than later Chinese capitals

Yes you're right. They should be placed in a different category later. I'll make a note of it at http://www.worldheritagesite.org/forums/index.php?action=vthread&forum=11&topic=1973

Koguryo (China) - Step Pyramid Tomb, perhaps most important stele in East Asia outlining the history of Goguyeo, exquisite tomb murals.

If we can only vote here:
Kyoto - worthy collection of sites representing Japanese Imperial Capital
Nara - worth collection sites that represent the formation of the Japanese state

3 Korean Sites (One Silla, One Baekje, One Goguryeo)

Maybe, though not all 3.
Gyeongju - Massive Tombs, Astronomical Observatory, and sacred mountain filled with carved buddhas and several pagodas.
Baekje - Because of Mireuksa Temple and King Muryeong's Tomb, also represents the spread of Buddhism from Baekje to Japan.

I personally find the Goguryeo site in China the most interesting and possibly most (or of equal) significance, but I have never been there. Regarding the Baekje and Gyeongju WHS, either these 2 sites cancel each other out, or we have to go for one. I know many people who frequent this website have been to Gyeongju, some have been somewhat disappointed. However, few of us have fully visited the site (including the sacred mountain area), unfortunately I never had the chance to make the hike. Few of us have been to the Baekje sites since it was only recently inscribed, I was fortunate enough to visit in 2011 7/8 of the serial sites. Therefore, I feel I actually know the Baekje WHS better than the Gyeongju WHS. King Muryeong's Tomb is hugely important and one of the greatest archeological discoveries on the Korean Peninsula. Found in the perfectly intact tomb were items from much of East and South-East Asia. In addition, Mireuksa Temple is hugely important as the oldest and largest Stone Pagoda in the Korean Peninsula, and certainly one of the largest in all of East Asia. Gyeongju has a unique astronomical observatory, massive tombs, representative brick/stone pagodas, and a sacred mountain filled with Buddhist reliefs carved in stone.

I support both Kyoto and Nara but for Nara for different reason not relating to Japanese at all.

Kyoto - YES, masterpiece of Japanese architecture, gardens with many unique artistic development.
Nara - YES, the only place that can preserved many great "Tang Dynasty" architecture from ancient China.

For other sites, Gusuku is also unique but not Top 200 so NO.
Gyeongju - I prefer Bulguksa as representative of Silla more that then city itself, so NO.
Baekje, This site remind me of Hiraizumi, too niche, and Bulguksa also has Baekje pagoda so another NO
Kogroyeo, This is very interesting, it tomb and tumulos are more impressive than Baekje and Silla, so this get YES
Xanadu and Ho are minimal artifect remain except wall so NO and NO.
Yin Xu, oracle bone is the evidence of Chinese alphabet which used in East Asia and Viet Nam, very important for world language, a MAYBE

Great analysis here, but the only real agreement is Kyoto and Nara, which we are not even sure belong in this caregory, but nonetheless are very deserving.

Other thoughts?

Besides Kyoto and Nara, I'd go for the true archaeological site of Yin Xu (important for the origins / development of Chinese writing).
