I'm quoting the Tentative List thread as Paraguay didn't have its own forum thread. With developments there in recent years I thought it would be good to create one.

It's been a journey for Paraguay since they last attempted to get anything inscribed and got rejected in 2005 (with Mbaracayu Forest Nature Reserve). I've noticed an uptick in activity for them in the past year which seemed to indicate their desire to finally get something inscribed (trying to get onto the WH Comitte last year was a big change).

With a lot coming out of the news recently about restoration efforts for their train stations and for the Yaguarón Temple (as well as as popular pushback against gas drilling in the Medanos del Chaco tentative site), I was eagerly awaiting what was going to come first. Today, the the culture ministry announced that experts from Mexico have arrived in Paraguay to finalize the nomination file for the Templo San Buenaventura de Yaguarón. The experts brought in had a direct hand in many of Mexico's recent nomination dossiers. This specific article below specifies that their intent is to have it submitted by the UNESCO deadline in February. This would finally be Paraguay's second WHS though they will have to clear the comparitive analysis study against other Franciscan sites in Latin America.
