And another tentative one for Australia - the Victorian Trades Hall and Broken Hill Trades Hall - as part of a transnational World Heritage List nomination of Workers' Assembly Halls. ("The nomination, led the Danish Government, is made up of sites across Argentina, Denmark, Belgium, Finland, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.")

Michael Turtle:

Thanks! The Danes have managed to find quite a number of other countries to join, and I guess we will see these sites appearing on Tentative Lists shortly. According to the nomination's Facebook page, a start already has been made with writing the nomination dossier.

A potential delay in the consideration of the Murujuga Cultural Landscape bid for next year? https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-11-27/unesco-world-heritage-list-application-delay-burrup-peninsula/103153778

Interstingly, I've noticed it's listed as 2025 on this site, same as the Flinders Ranges? Plus, given the number of sites that get approved despite issues, I disagree with the negative statements in the article that the bid may be declined due to administrative details...

I've also been subscribed to updates on the Victorian Goldfields bid (see: https://goldfieldsworldheritage.com.au). The latest news is that based on the opinions of a UK expert, two new shires have joined the bid - Baw Baw and Indigo. The former is home to the well-preserved village of Walhalla, while the latter contains Beechworth and its fine heritage precinct. Both would have been quite an omission!

I cover both of them with plenty of photos on my dog-friendly website: https://www.travelnuity.com/dog-friendly-walhalla/ and https://www.travelnuity.com/dog-friendly-beechworth/

It had an incomplete dossier this year (2022/2023 session), so they will need to submit a new one. First possible moment is before Feb 1, 2024 so for the 2025 session. I think the 'administrative error' refers to the incomplete dossier (map issue).

Parramatta Female Factory

It's almost sacrilegious': Descendants of convict women fight to save legacy of Parramatta factory
"The risk is that over-development would compromise the World Heritage values this site so richly deserves,"

There's a plan for 2500 new homes in Parramatta. Heritage advocates say it can wait
"Labor politicians are at loggerheads over plans that would allow 2500 homes north of the historic Parramatta Female Factory as a federal MP urges the state government to halt the proposal amid a long-running campaign to add the precinct to the World Heritage List."

You can't make this #@$/!& up! And it's already two days past April Fool's Day now...

President Trump's sweeping tariffs announced Wednesday extend to countries and territories across the world — including the uninhabited Heard and McDonald Islands in the sub-Antarctic Indian Ocean.

For reference, here's my Queensland itinerary (7 days, 4 WHS) that I just finished:

D1: Early morning arrival in Cairns from Denpasar, Kuranda Railway return for Barrington Tops NP (Wet Tropics WHS). ON Cairns
D2: Day package (113 EUR) for the Great Barrier Reef WHS: see my review. ON Cairns.
D3: Full-day tour with Billy Tea Safaris (136 EUR) to Daintree NP, also part of Wet Tropics WHS (see review). ON Cairns.
D4: Flight to Brisbane, pick up rental car and drive to Hervey Bay. ON Hervey Bay
D5: K'gari WHS day tour with K'gari Explorers Tours (187 EUR). ON Hervey Bay
D6: Drive back to Brisbane and a bit further south. ON Nerang.
D7: Visit Lamington NP (Gondwana Rainforest WHS). See wild kangaroos and koalas at Coombabah Lakelands. Drop off rental car. ON Brisbane.

I enjoyed the vibe in Cairns. Brisbane and its agglomeration are densely populated and I experienced a lot of traffic jams both in and out. The weather in early November was sunny and hot.
