Thai Cabinet Backs Wat Arun's Bid for UNESCO World Heritage Status

The next stage in the process will see Thailand formally submitting the nomination documents to the World Heritage Centre in Paris before the end of April. This will ensure the matter is placed on the agenda for the World Heritage Committee meeting, scheduled to take place between June and July 2025.

Minister Sudawan also outlined the subsequent steps, noting that after a year on the Tentative List, preliminary assessment documents must be submitted by September 2026.

So is "Phra Prang of Wat Arun Ratchawararam: Identity of the Rattanakosin Kingdom" on the table for WHC 2029, since all the years before already seem to be taken for Thailand? They want to include it on the country's TWHS List this year.

UPDATE : Phra That Phanom Nomination

Minister of Culture recently visited Phra That Phanom Temple and agreed to set up committees to promote WHS nomination and document drafting. She agreed to request the Fine Art Department to send expert to help the committees. To sum up despite being on the tentative list since 2017 and millions of tax money had been used, nothing has been done!! This nomination has more problem than Wat Phra Mahathat.

the reemergence of WWII Death Railway proposal as WHS

The locals and academics of Kanchanaburi campaign to push Thailand-Myanmar infamous WWII Death Railway as WHS. This is not a new initiative, it happen many times, but at the end will get comment from Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the nomination may cause irritation with Japan and effect bilateral relationship.

Durian:
7 nomination sites

Wat Umong Suan Phutthatham, Wat Suan Dok Royal Temple, Wat Chiang Man, Wat Phra Sing Woramahawihan, Wat Chedi Luang Worawihan, Wat Ched Yot Royal Temple, and the Lanna Architecture Center at Khum Chao Burirat

We have 8 in our listings, additionally including the City walls and moat and Wat Pra That Doi Suthep, and omitting Khum Chao Burirat
I think we need to update our list? Let's at least wait until we get the document set for this year's whc, it will show the number of components of the sites for the 2027 WHC as well.

IMO I think the reporter may have misunderstood, as the report focuses on landscape beautification. The city wall and Wat Phra That Doi Suthep do not require any further decoration. Khum Chao Burirat is not part of the nomination; it is only being used as an office for the ICOMOS inspection, and therefore it needed to be prepared to an appropriate standard.
